Polyvore's New Look

Polyvore.com just launched some big changes!New Shop PageTo help you with your holiday shopping, we've created a brand new Shop page that showcases all the hottest products and the latest outfits, as chosen by the Polyvore's huge community of fashionistas. Everything on our shopping homepage is a direct reflection of what you guys think is hot this season, as opposed to what a small group of magazine editors have handpicked. So if you think ruffles are going to be the hot trend of 2009, make sets filled with ruffles and tag them with "ruffles" -- our algorithms will scan all the tags created by the community and automatically compute what trends are hot. It's fashion by democracy!Browsing by Brands, Tags, and StoreAnother new shopping feature we've introduced is a better way to navigate and browse all the great content on Polyvore. You can browse by brand (we love Christian Louboutin and Marc Jacobs), store (did you know eBags.com is having a 10% off sale right now?) and trend (plaid is hot this season). These pages allow you to quickly browse many larger-sized sets all at once.Buy ButtonsWe've also been getting a lot of feedback from users who were confused about whether they could buy items on Polyvore or not. So, to help you distinguish between items that are buyable (meaning you can click through to the store and buy them) and items that are just images clipped from blogs or photo sites, we've added "Buy" buttons to the site. Note that these buttons will only appear in cases where we're pretty sure the item is buyable (we decided to be conservative about it). We may not always be right, but we've tried our best to automatically detect if an item is buyable. If you see a lots of problems with the "Buy" buttons, let us know by sending us some examples. We'll be continually working on improving this feature.Music in SetsWe noticed that a lot of people were creating sets inspired by music, so we decided to officially support it. Now you can drag & drop albums into your sets by clicking on "Music" in the All Items tab of the editor. The songs will appear in a playlist on the right side of the set page under the title "Soundtrack". For example, check out this set inspired by Katy Perry's "Hot & Cold".
