In short anyone who is in a size 14 or over fits into the plus size clothing category. The plus size clothing industry has come a long way and models of all shapes and sizes are being used to advertise these beautiful clothes.

The plus size modeling industry, is now taking off due to the rapidly increasing plus size clothing industry. Plus size models not only focus on promotion or selling clothes, they model cosmetics, footwear, watches, bags, sunglasses or even household products. Plus size models are not limited to photographic modeling; they are also doing catwalk modeling, advertisement and TV commercials. Moreover, there are many people find full – figured models more effective than those of the regular models. One reason for this might be that people can identify with someone similar in shape.

Famous Plus size Models

The following are examples of plus size models who have contributed to the public's acceptance of women with a voluptuous figure. Because of these contributions in the fashion industry, more doors have been opened for plus size women.

Barbara Brickner

Barbara Brickner modeled for several designers who designs plus size clothing and had been in the modeling industry for more than 10 years. She has been featured in MODE Magazine for many times. A clothing line called BB Maternity is plus size clothing for pregnant women owned by her.

Natalie Wakeling

Australian Cosmopolitan Pregnancy's first ever full – figured model on their cover and the inspiration behind the magazine's editorial policy of using models above Australian size 12 in their every issue is Natalie Wakeling. She serves as the ambassador for the Eating Disorders Foundation of NSW which is committed to healthy body image education to girls. Also, the launched a denim brand clothing line for plus size called Embody Denim.

Whitney Thompson

America's Next Top Model's winner is a size 10 making her the first women to win ANTM with such size. She's also the first full – figured model to get a cover of Seventeen magazine. Her career on modeling eventually began in Florida, where she lives at the age of 15.

Charlotte Coyle

A plus size model who hosted UK's Fat Beauty Contest in 2006, which is a reality TV program. She's best known for her full – figured modeling for Torrid, an American clothing company.

Natalie Laughlin

The first ever plus size model to be featured on Time Square's billboard. Also, she's the first to make it on Glamour magazine, U.S. edition as an outsize model.
