Pedestrians pay attention to what color you wear!

The time has come again when the days are shorter and the nights are longer. Yesterday we moved our watch back an hour, but that means it's getting darker. This is particularly a threat to pedestrians. Also, when taken alongside the road in dark clothes. After all, up to three-quarters of pedestrians who die on the road are knocked down by drivers during reduced visibility. Therefore, reflective elements are more important than ever at this time. They make you visible on the road and can save your life.

Unfortunately, too many pedestrians have lost their lives on the roads because their drivers have not seen them or noticed them late. At the same time, it was enough to draw attention to himself with reflective tape. Pedestrians often do not realize that in dark clothes their drivers in the dark and fog have no chance to see in time.

It is important to realize that now, as it is getting darker faster, and moreover, on these days of soul, we are heading to the graves. Dark clothing is dangerous not only at night, but also when it is cloudy, freezing or, on the contrary, seeing, visibility is poor or traffic is very busy.

20 meters: Distance 20 meters and no reflective tapes: A man in a reflective jacket can see great, a woman in white clothing too. The woman in black was lost in the dark, seeing only the bright shoes.

"Most pedestrians dress in line with fashion and age-appropriate social trends. So especially the middle and older generation have dark clothes that do not reflect light but still absorb it," explains traffic analyst Jozef Drahovský. "They can only be seen through street lighting or as a black silhouette in the headlights of vehicles going opposite," he adds.

Tests have confirmed that reflective elements on clothing can be seen from a greater distance than the braking distance of vehicles. A dark-skinned walker sees a driver only 20 meters at night, which is too short a distance to prevent a collision. If you are dressed in white, the driver will see you at a distance of 70 meters. If you have reflective clothing, you can see up to 200 meters away.

50 meters: Distance 50 meters and with reflective tapes: Even a person in a reflective jacket is harder to see, but the belts on his jacket form a silhouette. The woman in white has become a point that can be seen mainly through tapes. The pedestrian cannot be seen in black, only reflective tapes are lit.

These findings also verified by the editors of Plus ONE DAY. One dressed in dark, the other in light and the third in a jacket with reflective fabrics. Images of our photographer from behind the wheel of the car show you the best way to influence the color of clothing on pedestrian safety. The photographer took the three editors from a distance of 20 and 50 meters - and it is a huge difference, as you are dressed!

For winter we recommend modern and especially sports jackets, in which the designer directly installed reflective elements, such as joints of individual parts. Or use at least reflective bracelets and stickers. They cost a few cents, but they will save your life. Think of the driver's reflexes and abilities. At a speed of 75 kilometers per hour, the driver will drive the car for another 31 meters before starting to brake at all. This can be fatal to many of us.
