Receiving a Chanel show invitation is the ultimate dream of everyone either working in fashion or passionate by it, and the golden globe featuring on it this season let us different ways of interpreting what the Grand Palais would be turned into for the show. Indeed this season a giant globe was hung in the middle of the venue, completely dark, just like the collection itself. Not a sad dark, but rather a chic one: tweed coats, grey skirts teamed with black leather leggings, and of course round-shouldered coats (which designer has not done them this season?).

Agnes B chose the 40’s as the inspiration of her collection and presented easy to wear pieces which gathered a Marseille feel but also a schoolgirl atmosphere, with flat black shoes and high socks, pleated large grey pants and white blouses worn under jumpers. Bright colors featured on different pieces, among which an industrial strawberry overall and beautiful felted blue and pink coats.

Jean Charles De Castelbajac presented his collection in the Oratoire du Louvres, a stunning church which automatically gave the theatrical touch needed to a fashion show. The designer once again proposed stunning graphic prints, among which a symmetric jungle inspired one used on a jacket and a short dress, as well as fox print featuring on a check print red cape. Could the fox possibly eat Givenchy’s Bambi?

Valentino’s designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, were inspired by Vermeer’s work for this new collection. Romanticism was present throughout the collection on elegant and relatively classic pieces, most of them included laser-cut white leather collars. Royal blue, black, off-white and red were used on monochromic short woolen dresses, bandeau overall, floral print floor length silk dresses and sharp leather short dresses.

Hermes finished the day “en beauté”, with a very French collection which focused on what the luxury house knows best: leather. We particularly adored the dark grey high waist skirts, laser-cut long coats worn over a fur cardigan and high waist large mid-calf pants which have been seen at many shows this season. Girl, get some space in your wardrobe because you will need one next season to be in.
