Office Style : How To "Spruce Up A Black Suit"
Hi Guys! It was a very eventful weekend for "Haute People" . It was Fashion Night Out on Thursday , and all the Magazines i wanted for September finally came out :-)
The Black Suit is a staple item in any wardrobe , both male and female. This is great to have because of its versatility and there is no better way to say "I'm a Professional " than with a black suit . However , that's just what it is , a plain black suit! Today i wanted to share some tips on how you can "spruce up" your plain old Black Suit.
Make Up : Believe it or not , you would be surprised at how your Black suit can come to life by picking the right "make- up look" for that day. I'm not saying go over the top with a dramatic winged out smokey eye and bold red lip . Remember there is Daytime Make-Up and Nighttime Make Up . How about creating a subtle sexy work appropriate look. Colors such as Golds and Plums are great daytime looks to spruce up your Black Suit.
Accessories : I always Say : "Accessories are a Girl's Best Friend ". The possibilities are endless . Necklaces are always a great touch . Try finding pieces that are not so "noisy" . Try to look for longer necklaces that are 10 inches long , or simple statement pieces . With accessories , you want to choose a focal piece. For example , if you decide that a " Statement" Necklace will be your focus , then you won't want to wear a huge pair of earrings or a chunky bracelet . Choose one Accessory and "Make It Work" for you. Also ! How about adding a nice handbag that matching your top? I see a lot of people who have a "work bag" that is either black or brown ( neutral color) . As for colorful handbags in the workplace , try to say away from the ones with "hardware " , that is buckles , studs , rhinestones and so on . Pick a nice subtle colour .
Tops : Choose a colorful top to brighten up your suit! Quite often people hold the belief that a white blouse "has to go with a Black Suit" , that is soooo not true . There are Yellows , Greens , Oranges ... Chartreuse and soo many other colour variations that can make you look "Haute" in the office.
Shoes : I hate those weird flat boring "Work Shoes"! Aughhhh! I'm more of a heels girl anyway . There are pumps , even really nice closed up wedges , why would anyone wear boring shoes? I would recommend matching the color of the shoes with the top ! See what i did there ? lol . Its not too flashy , and you are certainly not matching with your other co-workers by wearing a boring old work suit.
