Roman numerals, initials, cross and even little hearts: tattoos is currently one of the most popular celebrity trends and we’re always surprised to hear about someone who hasn’t yet surrendered to the ink craze.

They’re definitely an endangered specie but they do exist: a little while ago our very own Taylor Swift admitted she could never commit to a final tattoo design for fear of having to get it later on. Despite recently being on the cover of V Magazine, completely covered in fake tattoos, model of the moment Kendall Jenner also claimed in a 2015 interview that she wasn’t a fan. She has since then opted for a permanent tiny white dot design on one of her fingers.

And indeed, discrete, smaller tattoos are all the rage at the moment: long gone are the days of the heavily tattooed sleeve designs. Celebs tend to opt for smaller designs, but a lot of them. Rihanna and Miley Cyrus are great examples: it seems that a month doesn’t pass without one of them revealing a new ink design on their instagram. They can both boast over 15 designs all across their bodies.

One of the most popular tattoo designs remains the inked quote: motivational or proverbial, writing tattoos have famously appealed to Iggy Azalea, Rihanna and even Selena Gomez.

Roman numerals to remember meaningful moments such as birthdays are also big with celebs: Selena Gomez has 1976, her mother’s birth year, inked on her body.

Initials are still in-demand too: Khloe Kardashian has the initials L and O inked on her wrist, in homage to her now ex-husband Lamar Odom. Is laser removal in the books for her? Singer Lana Del Rey has the letter M on her left hand, to remember her grand-mother Madeline. Top models and besties Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn have two Ds inked on their hips to celebrate their long-lasting friendship.

The hip area is actually set to be the place of choice for tattoos in 2017: discrete and sexy, it’s been favored by celebs like Kylie Jenner and Hailey Baldwin, who opted for a design by celebrity tattoo artist JonBoy.

JonBoy is famous for his micro tattoos and the New-York based artist is the hand behind many celebrities’ miniature inked design: Justin Bieber, Zayn Malik, Kendall Jenner and Rihanna have all fallen for his original and minimalist style. Some of his most popular designs include an anchor and heart combo, a minimalist plane icon, inner lip writings, miniature moon crescent, minimalist floral designs. He explained the story behind the famous white dot on Kendall’s finger to Refinery29: "To her, it's the little things that matter. And the white color was because she didn’t want it to show with modeling and all that.

So, which tattoo design is it going to be for you?
