-Never Mind-

That's So New YorkDespite the fact that I currently have an interview with Finnish designer, Daniel Palillo in my mitts waiting for me to press that publish button, I feel that it may have seemed a little odd if I had posted an interview with a designer before introducing you all to that said designer. The reason behind my decision is primarily due to the fact that Daniel Palillo is still what you may consider to be anacquired taste when it comes to the wear ability of a number of his garments, yet after speaking with him, he is a seemingly carefree character and simply "goes with the flow" when it comes to designing, as he simply pushes all of his designs forward in a way he wants, rather than being pressured by fabricated trends each season.

I have gathered from Daniel's designs alone that he seems to have a thing for indie, grunge and overly alternative design, yet as I mentioned previously, all of his designs are simply ideas which spill out of his head on a seemingly daily basis; therefore rather than boxing them up into a particular category, perhaps we should say that Palillo's designs follow a "I design what I want, when I want!" aesthetic, which to summarize simply means that as soon as an idea pops into his head, within an hour or so he has already thrown himself in-front of a sewing machine and obtained pins, thread and various fabric/material alternatives. In addition to apparel, Palillo does tend to dabble in various other forms of creativity; therefore the time which he does not spend in front of a sewing machine is poured into exhibitions and collaborations. For instance, back in 2008 Daniel collaborated with jewelry designer, Lauri Johansson and then just months later went onto collaborate with Rickard Lindqvist during an exhibition of images which were displayed in the O3one gallery in Belgrade, Serbia followed by yet another collaboration with KASINO the following year.

Now that you've grabbed yourselves a reasonable understanding of the aesthetic behind the Daniel Palillo label, I must share with you a preview of the Daniel Palillo Spring/Summer 2012 collection; that of which has been titled -Never Mind- and was debuted just over one week or so ago (12/09/2011)
