Neutral In A Sea of Color

8842871258?profile=originalThat's So New York - This Spring 2011 season proves to be colorful and exciting. We are seeing a rainbow of bright colors from almost every designer and after the drab winter season, how can anyone not be excited. While it all looks fresh and pretty on the runways, our screens and in the pages of magazines, the practical side of me asks:  Who is going to really be able to wear all this color well? Aside from a select group of very fashionable and sophisticated women, it may present a challenge.

The counter trend of neutral dressing not only offers a welcome contrast, but also works as a lovely backdrop for those who want to wear just a bold pop of color.  For anyone who loves classic neutral shades or who just feels uncomfortable in all that color, the neutral story is sleektimeless, fresh and elegant. It allows for a black alternative and a light spring feeling with a great deal of ease and comfort. Designers such as Chloe (featured in photo), LanvinArmani and Oscar de la Renta have been smart enough to incorporate one or more neutral stories in their collections to satisfy this need. -Contributor Luciene Salomone
