Not everyone believes in love at first sight, but who doesn't adore a good story about eyes meeting across a crowded room and just knowing in your heart of hearts that you've just encountered the love of your life?Sigh... That's apparently exactly how it went down the night Matthew McConaughey met his now-wife Camila Alves. If you have a heart, it's sure to swell when you hear McConaughey's sweet tale.

Before setting eyes on his beyond beautiful wife, Camila, McConaughey wasn't sure he'd ever get married. "I had to get to the point where I saw [getting married] as more than just the thing to do," the hunky actor recalled in a previous interview with GQ. But all it really took was a quick glance at his goddess wife to seal the deal!

"I was very happily single and healthily single," McConaughey told People of his bachelor days (see the full video below). "I was not looking. I was sleeping well, I was spiritually sound, I was good hanging with me." Then the Free State of Jones star laid eyes on Alves. Cue the fireworks and angels singing.

While at a Los Angeles nightclub with friends, a certain someone managed to catch the eternal bachelor'sattention. "Out of the corner of my eye, this sort of aqua-green figure went floating across the frame about 20 feet in front of me," reminisces McConaughey. "My eye went up and I remember what came out of my mouth. I didn't say 'Who is that?' I went, 'What is that?'" Your future wife, McConaughey!

"As l was trying to get that's attention across the room," the actor continued, "I went in my head, 'This is not the kind of woman you call over across the room, McConaughey. Get your ass out of your chair and go get her.' Which I did." Smart man...

And the rest, as they say, is history. The too-cute couple has been married since 2012 and now share threechildren together. But what was it that first infatuated McConaughey? "The self-respect she had," he muses. "The way I understood her and her relationship with family, the way she respected me but never took anything for granted, not putting on any airs whatsoever."

"We went on our first date three nights later and I knew then," McConaughey remembers. "I've been wanting to go on a date with her for the last nine years and not with anybody else." Again, sigh...
