Congratulations to three local girls who have been recently selected to participate in the 2015 Miss Teen pageant and Miss Pre-Teen competition that will take place on Sunday in St. Petersburg.

Representing the Southwest Florida area in the Miss Teen pageant are Karen Gonzalez of Fort Myers and Alva residents Marissa Drake and Jennifer Johnson. Olivia Stoops will represent North Fort Myers in the Miss Pre-Teen pageant. All girls are currently looking for sponsorships from local businesses.

These girls will be competing for their share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. Gonzalez, Drake and Johnson will be competing in the Miss Teen division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies ages of 7 through 19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual wear and formal wear. Stoops will be competing in the Miss Pre-Teen division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies ages of 7 through 19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual wear and formal wear.

Each participant will also display her personality and interviewing skills during interviews with judging panel. Personality is the No. 1 aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.

If Gonzalez, Drake or Johnson were to win the title of Miss Teen, she would represent Southwest Florida at the National Competition that will take place in Orlando. More than $30,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the National Competition while each winner enjoys this expense paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando.
