EDMONTON — Tribal prints, loose, flowing shapes, natural fabrics and other fashion influences from the 1970s are being reinterpreted for today in a modern take on boho chic.

Designers like Michel Kors and Hugo Boss are using patterns — some Navajo-like, some more African-inspired — in dresses and tops, says Tracy Bradley, manager of Blu’s Womenswear downtown. She points to a Kors maxi dress featuring colourful beading and a simple Boss skirt with a gold, black and green tribal print.

Our buyer, Jennifer is attending Paris Fashion Week and purchasing designer fashions for the spring 2012 season. She has been sending us tidbits and photos from Paris. It has been fun to see what is happening in Paris and being on the front for 2012 spring styles. There are thousands of buyers looking at collections and the models only get a few minutes of outside air on a 30C (90F) plus fall day.
