No one likes a double-dipper—especially where recessions are concerned. And sadly, during this economic slump, it’s no surprise that retailers are taking a hit. J.W. Hulme Co. bags will be carried in more than 30 Barneys New York stores around the country by mid August. But, it was not long ago when Hulme designers Chuck Bidwell and Jennifer Guarino were on the verge of going under. The 105-year-old company was about $2 million dollars in debt during the credit crisis and lost majority of their sales. The Wall Street Journal revealed today how even in this tough economy, this moribund company was able to make a startling comeback.
