What Happened When Banana Republic Went Trendy

Banana tried to leave their classic sweaters and tailored pants behind for a more fashion forward look, but now they're bringing the staples back

When you close your eyes and think of Banana Republic, what do you see? Brand president Andi Owen hopes you see tailored pants, sweaters that fit just right, and classic outerwear that brings the whole outfit together. These are Banana’s bread-and-butter products, but if you’ve walked into a Banana Republic anytime in the past year, you’re more likely t

At iBlues X Marta Grossi BANANA à PORTER Press Preview (Hong Kong), banana graffiti girl Marta created a tailormade graffiti just for me which represents her interpretation of me based on the first impression. I got the most graceful and classy pink tulips on my banana. Marta drew me the national flower of the Netherlands without knowing that I just attended an exhibition of Van Gogh’s exclusive painting collection. It couldn’t just be an amazing coincidence, could it?

Fringe Moments.

I adore fringe. So when I found this fringe dress it was a must have. Paired it with my leather 'Sparano' backpack from Maxwell Scott Bags, red booties and my look was complete!

On Spring Street.

Finally got a chance to visit the newest Columbus mobile boutique, Go-Go Chic. Funny thing, I'd been looking for a pair distressed denim capris and low and behold, I found them there. I paired them with the 'Mala' necklace the dear sweet Zeta of Kewpie Dolly made me. Throw in one of my favorite eel skin clutches and my BR hat, I'm set!

Once upon a time in NYC.

Last week I took a pilgrimage to the city. I needed to get away so I grabbed little brother and away we went. I usually stay in Manhattan but this time I decided I wanted to venture out and try something new so I stayed in Williamsburg Brooklyn.
I of course ventured into the city. I kind of had to do (some) of the touristy things as little brother hadn't been to NYC before (he went to Europe last year.....yes I'm green with envy as I still haven't been).
So here are some outtakes from our trip.

It's In The Bag!

IMG_6873.JPG
Yes. I'm a big bag girl, because I carry a lot of stuff. So I get the question, "What all do you have in there?" quite a bit. Well, know you'll know. :-)
IMG_6872.JPG
Is it all necessary? Yep!
A girls gotta read (and have a selection to read ;-). Sunnies, Hermes planner (sometimes I'm old school and like to actually write things down), water (at all times), powder for those unfortunate shiny moments and a quick change of clothes after working out. Oh! And we certainly can't forget the iphone!

Easy, Breezy.

I love a good maxi dress. This one fits the bill. Found it this past weekend at Banana Republic. Mixed it with my current favorite booties by Maison Martin Margiela. Reworked my Hermes Jumbo necklace as a bracelet, added some shoulder dusters and I'm all set!

Wondering where I've been?
No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I was in NYC for my friend Alexis Wilson's book signing for 'Not So Black and White' at The James Hotel. Truly a grand event attended by actress Tamara Tunie and Blair Underwood among many other stars from Broadway and the arts. I had a blast!

I recently ventured up North to the Windy City. 1st time and I loved it. The trip was primarily so the other half could go to a Bears game but I made the best of it with some stellar shopping- Lincoln Park, Gold Coast and of course Magnificent Mile. And the food? Oh yes! One eatery I HIGHLY recommend is The Purple Pig. Flavors just explode in your mouth. I may make a trip back just for their food.....and some shopping :-)

No one likes a double-dipper—especially where recessions are concerned. And sadly, during this economic slump, it’s no surprise that retailers are taking a hit. But, future store owners, this could be your time to strike. As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, open the best boutique ever… or something like that. (more…)

As New Yorkers, we’re no strangers to zero privacy. Our apartment wallsare paper-thin and sometimes morning rush hour subway makes us feel likewe’re in a toothpaste tube, but we put up with it for the sake ofliving in this mad, wonderful city of ours. However, there are somethings that can get a bit too close for comfort— and they come from themost unexpected source. Many resort to online shoppingbecause it guarantees privacy and, we assume, no judgment by nosycashiers or pushy salespeople. We e
