Geoffrey Beene 60′s red carpet gown….

I keep  having to lift my jaw off the ground on this piece.   I mean literally lift it off the ground.  This vintage Geoffrey Beene 60′s red halter top pleated gown is a show stopper if I ever seen one.  I mean this is something you can easily picture Monroe wearing to dazzle her audience…  It’s just stunning.  I love pleats especially on a gown!  This is a piece I wish I saw more young Hollywood movie stars wear because it’s gorgeous and chic.  Geoffrey Beene really does go down as one of Ameri

This vintage 80s Bill Blass dress really does have that Flamenco dancer’s flavor doesn’t it?  I love it and I love the mix of patterns and especially the bow on the side of the waist.  I love seeing bows on the waistline, it’s so very 80s….  Remember back in the 80s every woman had bows either in her hair or on her clothes…  I love it.  The weight of this dress is actually quite substantial believe it or not…  That’s a sign of really good fabric and when it came to Bill Blass he didn’t leave any

I love seeing women wearing shirt-dresses and I have no idea why…  I just remember back in the late 70s these were HOT HOT HOT.  They are so simple and so chic what is there not to love about this design?  I mean for crying out loud it’s by Lanvin and not only from Lanvin but it came out of I.Magnin which was a ultra high end luxury department store….  Everything about this Lanvin 70′s shirt-dress from I.Magnin is just YUMMY.  YUMMY in anyone tummy!  Let me give you a news flash here “STYLISH wo

What better accessory than a scarf especially a Gucci & Dior one???  Scarves are always the best accessories and yet I hardly ever see women wearing them today.  Back in the day you would always see the likes of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn & Elizabeth Taylor wearing scarves.   I think scarves are great additions to any ensemble.  These are all vintage scarves and all are gorgeous in design especially the modern Dior one…  I say ladies bring back wearing hats & scarves even if it’s to take out

The first home run was finding this gorgeous black Guy Laroche Collection dress and the other touch down was finding this x-large YSL shawl / scarf…  I don’t know where to even begin with this blog post because these 2 labels are iconic French brands that have been around for some time and their designs seem to stand the test of time.  This classic sleeveless LBD by Guy Laroche is so simple and chic, just look at the layers above the shoulders.  Simple design yet effective.  The x-large YSL shaw

Finding a vintage James Galanos piece in pristine condition is equivalent to winning the lottery I kid you not.  You just don’t find a Galanos item everyday.  He started his fashion house, based in Los Angeles, in 1951 after 9 years of studying and working in the fashion industry.  Galanos became known for his work in chiffon; evening wear was a specialty.  He also designed elegant suits and dresses for day.  James Galanos is considered to be one of the great fashion designers of the 20th cent

I just read this fabulous article in the Huffington Post titled “This is What A Totally Green, Sustainable NYC Could Look Like”… click here to read…. The article starts off by saying that the people of NYC require some 4 million acres of food producing land just to grow enough food for New Yorkers to eat annually…  4 million acres of land…  that’s like the size of Connecticut people…  I loved looking at the futuristic city of New York would look like if it indeed went completely green and all th

Just how hot is this blog posting?  I say pretty damn hot !  The Calvin Klein vintage 80′s blouse came from a thrift store and the Thierry Mugler asymmetrical black vintage 80′s skirt came out from an antique mall!  It just goes to show you that you can put together a HOT outfit from anyplace, just as long as you look !  Antique malls are so much fun and loaded with hidden treasures you just have to know what you are lo0king for.  Good vintage never ever goes out of style, “trends” go out of sty

I absolutely love this 80s Pierre Cardin silk abstract in design dress.  I love the way Pierre Cardin arranged the patterns of stripes on this dress, it’s ultra modern…  Most people aren’t aware that Cardin designed furniture and some of his pieces are very collectible.  When you look at his body of work, I truly believe that this man probably never slept…. He was and continues to be be very prolific …  I’m always looking for vintage Pierre Cardin in my search for vintage luxury because this Fre

This vintage Bill Blass 80s ball gown is your quintessential black tie ball gown in the best of ways.  This really is your Cinderella Princess gown, it’s a fairy tale moment and to get this gown in excellent condition is beyond amazing.  These types of gowns just don’t show up everyday, every week or every month.  This Bill Blass gown has a story I’m sure and I just wished I knew what it was.  The quilted bottom part of this gown adds so much texture and depth to this gown, it’s off the chart HO

Yes this 80s Pierre Balmain dress really does make quite the artistic statement doesn’t it?  Grant it I love solids and prefer them over patterns but for some reason I actually think this pattern is very upbeat.  This is just a fantastic French label, one of many, that has always delivered the goods…  I don’t know about you but when I see this label I swoon…  I’m Daniel Troppy your vintage luxury curator!

This vintage late 60′s Geoffrey Beene tomato red gown with pockets is so sassy I don’t even know where to begin.  Every detail about this gown just screams out “CLASSIC”.  The waistband is elastic so the woman who wore this originally had room to enjoy herself at whatever cocktail party she wore this to.  There isn’t one thing wrong with this piece, this design- but again it’s from Geoffrey Beene and the man knew exactly what he was doing.  Geoffrey Beene, a single minded innovator who put fashi

Who in their right mind doesn’t love finding Badgley Mischka second hand?  I have to say it’s always a joyful moment when you see this label.  In 1988, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, two Parsons grads, borrowed some money from their families to realize their vision of glamorous, Old Hollywood style gowns.  Today actresses walking the red carpet are wearing Badgley Mischka….  I loved finding this strapless sequin black cocktail dress that has a built in corset, so the “girls” stand at full atten

I don’t know why I’ve always had such a passion about luxury vintage but I have now for 32 years…  I’ve never been able to really put my finger on why I love & appreciate vintage so much, I mean I have several reasons but not just one in particular…  When you see this Donald Brooks vintage 70s black dress with white trim it is stunning and yes it’s a show stopper to say the least.  I’ve always loved vintage really because I believe its the best waynot to be copied….  When I see people wearing vi

I got so incredibly lucky because not only did I find 2 matching identical dresses but the real story is they had never been worn.  Now is that lucky or is that lucky???  I have from the get go loved Bill Blass so I would be foolish to walk away from these 2 UltraSuede dresses with belts and pockets in pristine condition.  Blassport was introduced in 1972 just shortly after the world discovered the UltraSuede fabric.  The list of powerful women that LOVED Bill Blass is endless; The Duke of Winds

I don’t care how your slice it, this vintage Bill Blass gown is sexy and timeless.  My best guess to age is late 70s but it possibly could be from the early 80s but my gut is saying late 70s so there!   The woman who originally wore this Bill Blass gown knew herself so well and was so secure with her identity because this knit gold gown takes knowing oneself so damn well.  It’s over the top chic and sexy all while being simple in design.  That’s what I really love about this gown.  Simplicity is

Flora Kung vintage 70′s sweet dress….

What can I say except that I adore Flora Kung’s vintage pieces.  There is something about Flora Kung that is irresistible to me and I think it’s because of her art background.  She knows how to space things evenly and peacefully which makes her prints pleasing to the eyes.  I’m thinking these Brian Atwood peep-toe booties nail the coffin shut on this ensemble…  To me there is nothing better than good vintage luxury, it’s timeless.   I’m Daniel Troppy your luxury curator!
