Lazy Oaf

That's So New YorkOkay, so it's official, I survived my first day of college; I have to say, I'm not exactly overjoyed. A summary of the day? I walked around the majority of the time on my own as it seemed that everyone, everywhere was reluctant to spark up a conversation with me. I won't point fingers, yet in my opinion it's a little rude to ignore someone when they casually slip out a "Hello" (let me verify that I was the one being ignored; oh, how I wish it was the other way round). I never knew how tiring it could be walking around and attending lessons; not to mention the borderline ridiculous amount of listening I have to do, followed by a minimal amount of learning (okay, so they're not exactly physical activities, yet then again, I'm not exactly the fittest guy around). I won't lie; yes, I did come home and nap and a good nap it was too.

Moving on from my personal dramas, I have been throwing around the college vibes now that I'm all grown up, meaning that I do have a fairly new discovery at hand which seems to play around with my college vibes perfectly. After stumbling across a link a number of weeks ago, I came across graphic label, Lazy Oaf (you may remember me briefly mentioning the label during my Viktor Vauthier post, as he is the talented photographer behind almost all of the imagery displayed on the Lazy oaf website). I regret having to spill out the words newly discovered and Lazy Oaf in the same sentence; primarily due to the fact that the label was founded by Gemma Shiel way back in 2001, and has since then gained an increasing amount of popularity among a selection of celebrities; including my very own Marina. When the label initially began, it started as a market stall in East London, United Kingdom where Gemma would sell a series of hand screen printed graphic tee's, then in 2004 the label welcomed a store opening in Soho, London, United Kingdom; as the Lazy Oaf website puts it "Skip to the present and Lazy Oaf is available in over 150 stockists worldwide." How on earth have I not stumbled across this label before now?

I have spent a little time flicking through the Lazy Oaf website, picking out a handful of pieces which I admire; sorry guys, yet I'm afraid all of the pieces listed are women's, as I do have a number of Lazy Oaf orientated posts scheduled and yes, that does include this one, a men's orientated post and lastly an accessories post, mixing a series of unisex pieces. Despite the fact that the majority of girls around the college today were sporting your typical H&M blazer and Topshop dress, followed by a series of bulked jewelry, I would happily approach a girl who decided to throw on a Lazy Oaf sweater or dress; primarily due to the fact that I'm all for "look at me!" colors and pop art inspired garments. Onto the images ...
