Jean Louis 60s vintage linen stunning dress….

This is the first time I’ve written about Jean Louis so I’m very excited to share with you a little of his history.  Jean Louis was born in Paris France and moved to America to work in Hollywood where he dressed every major movie star on the planet and won an Academy Award of costume design.  For over 40 years, Jean Louis designed for every Hollywood actress such as: Lana Turner, Vivien Leigh, Joan Crawford, Julie Andrews, Katherine Hepburn, Judy Garland, Doris Day, Kim Novak, Marlene Dietrich and Rita Heyworth.  When British costume designer Joanna Johnston, nominated for an Academy Award for best costume design for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, worked on her first big film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), she turned for inspiration to the Parisian couturier-turned-Hollywood costume designer Jean Louis, and the dresses he designed for Rita Hayworth in Gilda (1946).  Remember the dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing happy birthday to President Kennedy, the sparkling gown?  Well that was Jean Louis….  This natural color linen 60s vintage Jean Louis dress is just another example as to his talent.  It’s simple elegance and timeless, it looks fantastic for today even though it was created in the 60s….  Somethings just never go out of STYLE…. I”m Daniel Troppy your vintage luxury curator!
