It's all in the details...

Oh wow! so many reasons to celebrate... Friday is finally here (Champagne please!!!), mother's day is only two days away and... The Style Hunter reached 100 fans last night!!! woo hoo!! thank you all very much for your support! (you can leave the bottle here..thanks)"Mother's day" week wouldn't be complete if I didn't tell you about the perfect gift for mama. My mom's b-day is only a couple of weeks apart from Mother's day so I have double duty... and of course I can't pull off a 2 for 1 (that would be a sacrilege). For her b-day I got her something I know she is going to love because she can use it anywhere (can't really say what it is cuz she is reading... hi mom!) but trust me it's a goody... she can use it anywhere from gardening stores deep in Homestead to Neiman Marcus in Merrick Park. So, one gift down, one more to go... for the second gift I wanted something special... something that would really show her how much I love her. I visited the usual suspects (Nordstrom, Neiman, etc) but nothing really caught my eye... yeah sure I saw a great pair of Louboutin pumps, but remember she's picky with shoes.... (hahahahha... just kidding!) After looking and looking I came to the conclusion that if I wanted to find something really special I wasn't going to find it in the mall...I needed to go vintage.Don't you love vintage and antique shopping? I can't get enough of it, I love the excitement of the unknown, the search, the hunt... and the rush you get when you finally find that unique piece is indescribable. When I hunt down a piece I love I think about the story that's behind it and the places it has been, the people who have loved it and why they gave it up...I always imagine something romantic and adventurous. The best place in Miami to find such treasures is Lincoln Road's Sunday street market where you can really find it all from beautiful antique diamond rings to weird looking flamenco dolls... really everything! Surely enough I found a beautiful piece that I know my mom will love and treasure, I can't say much without giving it away but it truly is unique... it has a few bumps and scratches but I think those details just add to the whole vintage feeling. In my search for uniqueness I made a happy discovery that I have to share with the local hunters! This upcoming May 22nd the folks at Super Market Creative and Creative Mafia bring us Swap Miami, a huge swap party where you can exchange your gently used quality items with fellow hunters and help others at the same time!... and guess what? The Style Hunter herself will be there as a style correspondent helping you find those unique treasures that will make you look even more fabulous and unique. But don't think I'll only be advising, I'll also be on the hunt for vintage accessories for my Sex and The City 2 debut look... it's all about the details. How can you get involved? It's easy! All you have to do is search your closet and home for gently worn and used clothing (no undies please), accessories, home decor or accent furniture pieces you would like to swap!... how do you help? all the leftovers will be donated to charity! Don't you love a style that keeps on giving? I totally do! So come on hunters celebrate your mom with a unique gift that she will love and start gathering the treasures that once made you happy and bring them to Swap Miami.... you might have that cute clutch I'm missing!Next week I'll be starting the official count down for the Sex and The City 2 great debut and giving out an amazing Urban Decay giveaway you won't want to miss so stay tuned and spread the word!!!!I have to go get the waiter now...I need a refillXOXOThe Style Hunter
