How to Make a Quick Greek Goddess Costume

This is one of the most effective and the most cost friendly costumes that you may make. It is also very easy to make the version for your partner as well since it doesn’t require a lot of work and guys don’t really mind being Greek gods. Not only that the base of your costume will be your bed sheet, but there are a lot of goddesses to choose from and that makes the entire idea all about your creativity rather than about spending tons of money for a costume.

The Toga

This is where that clean, washed and ironed bed sheet comes into the play. The basic version of this costume is the one in which you don’t cut the bed sheet and you don’t saw anything. Therefore, it is all about wrapping yourself in it the proper way. You will need to hold the sheet behind your body and wrap it around it so that one corner is on your right shoulder while the other one goes below your left armpit and they are met on your back. You will need the safety pit to connect those corners. After that, you need a gold belt or a rope painted in gold to tie it around your waist and let its ends down and make them a little bit longer.

Sandals

It seems like every girl has a pair of sandals that are flat and totally in style with this sort of costume. It is not necessary to go to the costume shop to get a pair of these, but if you don’t own them, you just might as well buy them. After all, they are kind of trendy and you can combine them with many different styles and outfits after you are done with the costume party.

Hairstyle and Makeup

If you don’t have the hair that is long enough for a big bun at the top of your head that is framed by a braid while some of your hair is falling on the sides as if it escaped the bun, there are other ways to make your hair look like the style of a Greek goddess. You may want to consider an artificial bun, or even a braid that will go around your entire head. As for the Greek goddess makeup, emphasize the eyes and give them a nice eyeliner touch. However, don’t go too much as you will look more Egyptian than Greek if you use it too much.

Accessories

This is where you need to make sure that you have all the chunky gold jewelry that you can find. You need to cover your hands up to your elbows in big golden bracelets. If you don’t have it, make it from cardboard, using the wrapping paper in gold or some other type of paint. You can use the same gold spray paint for example, to make cardboard, golden leaves to put them in your hair. Also, the accessories are the way to distinguish yourself as one of the goddesses: Artemis needs a bow and an arrow. Athena needs a helmet and a sword, Aphrodite needs an apple and you should wear a ton of body glitter. Go through your books on Greek mythology and learn about the distinguishing features of these goddesses.

Acting as a Greek Goddess is fun and it is not much hard work. Therefore, it is the easiest costume to throw on if you want to have an effective costume without spending too much. All you need to do is to plan ahead a little bit because that golden paint will need time to dry.
