How To Improve Your Wardrobe

Wardrobes can be so many things, they can be a time portal to what used to be in fashion, or they can be a capsule wardrobe where everything is timeless classics. If you don’t know which one you are then it could be time for a wardrobe sort out. It can feel daunting when trying to organise your wardrobe but there are some simple tips that can help you get it right the first time rather than having to rearrange it next season. Obviously, you will need to change your clothing seasonally, but this can be put away when not in use. In this article, we will go through some simple ways in which you can make your walk-in wardrobe more organised.

Start with a huge clear-out

The best way to start your organisational process is to remove everything from your wardrobe. This means all shoes, accessories and clothing as well as anything else you may find there. Next, give the wardrobe a good clean and make sure it is dry as you don't want your clothes smelling damp.

Next, you need to pile your clothes into piles of the following categories:

  • Sell
  • Maybe
  • Customise
  • Trash

Try things on as you go and then you will be able to make a more informed decision. You may find some old pieces in there that are still on trend or stuff that can be modified such as an old pair of jeans that can be ripped and made into ripped jeans or even a pair of denim shorts. The options are as many as you can think. Others may be on their last life which can in turn be thrown in the bin.

Make Some Money with Unwanted Pieces

Just because you don’t wear it anymore, it doesn't mean that someone else won't. There are obviously pieces that can always go to the charity shop, but if you pay a lot for an item, it can be hard to part ways, so instead, you can sell your pieces online via stores like Depop, eBay and Rebelle. This will get you some extra money that you can then buy new clothes or put towards something nice.

Invest In The Right Equipment

It is great to have matching hangers as the wardrobe just has that finishing touch, but there is much more equipment that you can buy that will make your wardrobe look amazing whilst making your day to day tasks that much easier. Wardrobe organisers are a huge saviour when you have a lot of clothing. If you have bottom space, you can buy some boxes for your spare household fabrics such as towels, spare bedding and a weighted blanket

Invest In Good Quality Clothing

Investing in good quality clothing is the best way to sort your wardrobe out. Obviously budget is a huge influencer. But every time you have to throw out a piece of clothing and need a replacement, save that little bit more to buy something of good quality rather than fast fashion items. This will in turn make your wardrobe last longer with timeless styles.
