How to Find the Perfect Engagement Ring

While the wedding ring is the ultimate symbol for eternal union, the engagement ring is what seals the agreement between a man and woman that they are getting married. Giving of engagement rings may seem to be a thing of our generation, but it is a custom that is being observed for thousands of years already.

In the past, our ancestors made use of whatever they could find to come up with engagement rings. During the time of Colonialism in America, for instance, women would remove the top portion of thimbles to create rings. Ancient Egyptians would also create engagement and wedding rings out of bamboo or reeds.

Our generation is very fortunate because we have access to a wider range of options when it comes to engagement rings. This advantage can also be a disadvantage at times, however, considering the variety of style, material, and design of these wedding rings we see in the market today. The good news is that finding the perfect one is not impossible, especially if you keep these factors in mind:

Find Out What Your Partner Would Appreciate

The first and most important step to finding the perfect ring is to figure out what type of ring your partner would love to be wearing in her finger. If the proposal is going to be a surprise, the best thing you can do is to seek help from her close friends. Otherwise, you can check out some jewelry stores together to find out what type of ring she would appreciate.

Don't Hesitate to Splurge

One of the most important things you need to keep in mind when it comes to engagement rings is you get what you pay for. It's true that it's the thought that counts more, but since these rings are meant to be worn for a lifetime, it's only sensible that you invest in something your bride-to-be would appreciate for as long as she lives. Focus on a ring that's made of durable material, has a good finish, and comes with high-quality diamond.

Be Practical

By practical, we mean choosing a ring that would suit the lifestyle of your partner. Not all engagement rings are the same. Some have lower settings and are suitable for day to day activities and are easily worn regardless of the activity the wearer is engaged in. Some, however, have higher settings and are not appropriate to wear when you're cleaning the house or doing the grocery.
