Those who are just starting out on their own fashion journeys may be at a loss as to how they can accessorize what they already own in such a way to match their personalities and their style senses.

The best ways to determine one’s fashion is to look in the closet to see what clothes are already there and to look at pictures online or in fashion magazines to build up a sense of a fashion personality. Depending on one’s fashion sense, accessories can be added to create perfect outfits for every day of the week.

Classic Styles

Classic pieces often form the basis for the majority of wardrobes. However, those who identify with this fashion sense will find plenty of neutrals, tailored jackets and pants, button-down shirts and pencil skirts in the wardrobe. Accessories that mesh well with this style include ballet flats, oxford shoes, diamond or pearl stud earrings and plain yellow or white gold necklaces. Those who want to amp up this style could try a statement purse, such as a Birkin bag.

Bohemian Styles

Those who identify with Bohemian styles have a more free-spirited approach to fashion. They wear flowing tops and skirts, drapey jackets, fringe and faux fur vests. Those who identify with Bohemian styles can try adding in ponchos and crocheted bags. Jewelry is very free-spirited and often will feature feathers, beads and long necklaces.

Urban Styles

Urban styles change the most frequently and reflect what is popular on the street today. People who identify with this wear oversized graphic t-shirts, faded or torn denim and bomber jackets. Accessory options to try here include leather tie-up boots and cross-shoulder bags. A gel manicure using a kit from Gel-Nails can be a great way to display the trendiest colors on one’s fingertips.

Minimalist Styles

Minimalist styles feature neutral colors and focus on clean, unembellished lines. While similar to the classic style, it focuses on having fewer pieces. Those ascribing to this style will want to choose a minimal watch with smooth lines and a simple, neutral-colored handbag.

No matter what one’s style is, there are accessories to match. From colorful and vibrant to smooth and clean, fashion sense is displayed both by the base layers in one’s closet and by the layered accessories. Accessories provide a fun way to change up any outfit based on the day, the occasion and one’s mood.
