You don’t need to be a professional to create unique and fun hairstyles. Similarly, while high-quality products and styling tools can be fun to experiment with, you can style plenty of great looks with some simple styling tools. All you should need are things like a curling iron or a straightener and some hair ties and some bobby pins.

The Braided Top Knot

For this look, all you need are two elastic hair ties and three to five bobby pins. Start by gathering all of your hair at the crown of your head then braiding it into a single plait. Afterward, begin to slowly wind the braid into a circle, forming the “knot.” Secure in place with a hair tie and bobby pins as needed.

You can also pull several strands of hair free from the temples and side of your head to create a more tousled, laid-back look.

Wet and Wind-Tossed Curls

This style will give you beachy curls that appear to glisten in the sun, as if you’ve just taken a refreshing dip in the ocean. To start, get your favorite curling iron or curling wand. If you don’t have one yet, it’s easy to find affordable options online. Try searching for L’ANGE curling wand reviews to get started and do some research until your find a curling iron or wand that you like. Once you are ready, curl your hair into tight spirals that fall looser toward the ends.

If you have naturally curly hair, this look is even easier. Just spritz the curls with water, then apply some mousse with your fingers to achieve a slick, shiny finish.

Face-Forward French Braid

Simple and sophisticated, this hairstyle is perfect for the days you’re running late but need to make a good impression. Part the front portion of your hair and create a French braid, working backwards as you gather more hair from the side of your head. Once it’s finished, tuck it into place and secure with bobby pins.

You may also choose to sweep the braid back around your head if you have long hair, which can create a crown effect.

Double Ponytail

For added volume, pull the bottom half of your hair into a ponytail that rests on the lower middle portion of your head. Then, create a second ponytail at the crown with the rest of your hair. The top ponytail will drape over the first ponytail, hiding the hair tie. Tease your roots at the crown and ponytail to add an extra boost of volume to this effortlessly glam look.

Looking good doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming. With an arsenal of hairstyling essentials, you can get ready for any event in under 30 minutes.
