Jennifer Lawrence is hot Hollywood property these days and it’s easy to see why. Whether she’s playing leading roles in franchise blockbusters like The Hunger Games and X-Men or intense dramas such as Winter’s Bone and Serena, you can always guarantee that she will give it her 100%.
Fans of Jennifer’s undoubtable acting ability will be pleased to know that in her newest movie, Joy – where she plays a driven business woman, she is reuniting with director David O. Russell who directed Silver Linings Playbook, the film that saw Miss Lawrence produce her only Oscar winning performance (to date that is!) as she starred alongside Bradley Cooper. Mr Cooper is also in Joy, so this marks the third outing where this talented trio have worked together (the other film being American Hustle).
While an acting performance from Jennifer Lawrence is always something to be enjoyed, her fashion sense is also worth checking out. Here are J-Law’s two most striking looks from Joy and some ideas on how to recreate them (without breaking the bank!):
Warm in Winter:
As the cold season is upon us, one utterly essential piece of clothing that you simply cannot do without is a warm winter jacket. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style for warmth. Something cosy like this belted tweed coat matches up with Jennifer’s smoky grey jacket. While the one I’ve picked out is a bit more draped than the one in the film, capes are very on-trend this season, so consider this a modern update of a vintage look!
To keep the chill off your neck, pick out a suitable scarf. The patterning on this grey Herringbone scarf is just like that which we see on the one Jennifer is sporting above.
While the trailer for Joy shows Jennifer brandishing a shotgun, in the above image she’s carrying an accessory that you’ll be allowed bring to more places. A good shoulder bag like this one by Fiorelli, will break up the outfit’s (50 shades of) grey while giving you somewhere spacious to carry all of your bits and pieces.
Leather Clad Badass:
During Joy, J-Law makes the transition from naïve youngster to fierce business woman. Part of her transformation involves revaluing her look; as well as cutting her hair short, she dons black leather and cool shades to send a signal out to the world that she is no pushover!
This is a very easy look to recreate. All you need to do is get yourself a nicely fitted leather biker jacket and a cool pair of aviator sunglasses with gold trim and you’re essentially done! In the movie, Jennifer just wears a simple black shirt under the jacket – you can pick them up cheaply pretty much anywhere. It doesn’t need to be fancy as the theme of this look is ‘no nonsense’ so you can get away with looking a little bit scruffy if you want to.
