Future Canadian Fashion

If you haven't heard the name FAREN yet, get ready!3 weeks ago, four of Canada's hottest young Designers showed their best at the 2009 Annual TFI New Labels Competition. As part of the ELLE Fashion & Beauty Show, this year's gala drew a crowd of over 600 Fashionable supporters. The 4 Designers: Cheryl Gushue, Jody Leigh, Sonja den Elzen and Faren Tami brought their creativity, innovation and savoir faire to the Runway with the legendary Carlu buzzing with excitement. And after a difficult deliberation by noteworthy competition judges, a winner emerged from the pack. With her dramatic collection inspired by the futuristic aesthetic of eco-friendly architecture, Faren Tami of Faren was crowned the winner of the ELLE Canada New Labels Fashion Award 2009, a Grand Prize package valued at $25,000!The looks were unique and clever. Mixing black, blue, silver, white and yellow was sharp, in a timeless fashion. The identical and almost robot-like of her silhouettes amused me, they looked like girls from the 60's lost in a space ship somewhere in the Galaxy, looking for a new world to conquer with their witty charm and sophistication. She certainly represents the Future of Canada’s avant-garde fashion.Watch out!
