Five Reasons Why the Mods Rock!

Ah, and with one sentence I’ve just about upset everyone in my parent’s generation – hee hee hee. But, trolling aside, the mod look is actually an awesome one. The entire genre is pretty funky and definitely worth a look. As you might know they have a long established rivalry with the rockers, so one of the best things you can do to rebel against a rocker is go mod. It was something many rocker dads feared, and vice versa for mod dads too.

Petty silliness aside, there are a plethora of reasons why both the mod genre and the rock danger are awesome. The rock genre is pretty much mainstream now, so we don’t particular hear much about that because we already understand the genre. The mod genre, however, is much less mainstream – it’s there if you know where to look, but you have to dig for it. For this reason, we have decided to dedicate this article to the mods. They’re definitely a genre that is well worth considering, and it’s important that we preserve some of the funkiness of generations to come.

The Clothes Are Tailored

Ask any fashion student what the most important rule of fashion is and they will tell you that it’s “fit”. As long as the clothes fit well, they can have practically any old pattern and be made from pretty much anything – indeed, within the fashion world they often are. It’s not uncommon to see models dressed in plastic and other oddities.

Still, the number one rule of good fashion is fit, and the mods have fit in spades. You just have to look at the selection of mod clothes by Gabicci vintage to see what we mean. The clothes flatter the frame and follow the silhouette. The mods were all about being trim and fit.

The Colours Are Fun

If they take fit seriously, it’s almost the opposite when it comes to colour. The colours are fun. They're not especially meant to be tongue in cheek, but they do come across that way. They aren’t neutral colours, that for sure. The most popular colours for mod fashions are blue, white, and red, which they often arrange in the iconic bullseye graphic. If you want to imitate the mods, then just a simple t-shirt with a bullseye in blue, white, and red is enough to let you in the gang.

They’re Distinct

You can say a lot about the mods, but one thing you can’t say about them is that they blend in. They absolutely do not. They stand out and they're bold with it too. They like a bit of a cocky swagger (think Liam Gallagher –he's the poster child for the Mods for sure). If you're looking to inject a little something extra into your wardrobe, then adopting the mod style is a great choice.

They’re Cool

Right, they might be your parents’ generation. Your parents might even be one, but they are cool. There’s no doubt about it. If you had a mod for a parent, you had cool parents – even if they did make you have bedtime and brush your teeth! That’s not a very cool picture we portrayed there, but take away the family life, and the inner core is a cool persona just busting to try on that new Gabicci vintage t-shirt.
