Some people consider photography as merely taking good photos. It is far beyond that, as you can express those things through photography that you can’t say in words. There are so many self-taught photographers. Then why enroll in a photography course?
Self-taught photographers have worked for several years and learned the techniques through trial and errors. If you want to be a good photographer, you shouldn’t waste much time learning through trial and error. All you need to do is to enroll in photography courses and develop the skills. Let’s have a look at a few more reasons to enroll in Photography courses.

Practice under mentors

When you enroll in a course, you get chances to work under professionals. The mentors will continuously guide you through the shoots and provide you with all the necessary information. Working with professionals provides you with practical insights, and you gain lots of experience.

Rigorous assignments

You have to face assignments when you enroll in a course. In the case of photography, you learn the theories, and then the application is practical. These assignments allow you to understand the camera angles and lenses in a better way. It also allows you to enhance your thought process for taking a particular shot.

Processing techniques

Once you capture a photograph, the post-processing techniques are equally important. In photography schools, you learn post-processing techniques as well. These techniques include advanced compositions that you can’t learn by searching the internet. Even if you pursue photography as a hobby, you must know the techniques to process it in order to get the best results.

Identify your style of photography.

Only when you are aware of different styles, then only you can select the style that is suitable for you. Two photographers have two different ways of seeing a particular scene. Even if both blog from the same class, still they capture two various shots as they never perceive the things through similar eyes. A proper photography course allows you to analyze and identify the style and composition meant for you.

Undoubtedly, if you want to develop photography skills irrespective of the fact, you want to choose it as your career or hobby, enroll in a photography course. Beyond that, you work under professionals, so you are able to gain knowledge from their experiences. It is essential for identifying your own signature style that will make you different from others.

Modeling Schools are a Total Waste of Time and Moneyhttps://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/profiles/blogs/modeling-schools-are-a-total-waste-of-time-and-money-12011-08-18T20:56:28.000Z2011-08-18T20:56:28.000ZBenjamin Kanarekhttps://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/members/BenjaminKanarek

From Benjamin Kanarek Blog

I am sure you have all seen those adverts saying, "…become a top model…". Or "You can become a model in only 6 weeks…" etc.

I find it sad and pathetic that so many kids and parents fall for those solicitations. I can only imagine how much money is tossed out the window by so many those hoping to become models via the Modeling Schools offering fame and fortune in the fashion business.

So for those of you reading this and hoping to become models, let me edify you to the reality of the business.

There is no school out there that can make you that promise and keep it.

http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=pretty-link/prli-links.php

To become a model the reality is the following:

If you are over 5?-9? or 1m 75 cm around 14-16 years of age or even younger.

Have a unique look that breaks with convention.

A classic conventional look that is really commercial.

Have been discovered by a credible model agency scout or recognized fashion photographer.

A fashion magazine editor has discovered you and sent you to one of the above agencies or other credible agencies in the major modeling centers.

Have been to see the credible model agencies around like Elite, Ford, Next, IMG, Marilyn, One Model Management, Folio, Select, Premier, Modelwerk, Viva, etc. and they have accepted you for their roster.

All modeling agencies worth their weight, will teach the models the necessary talent to survive in the business. They will warn them against certain career pitfalls, who and what to avoid, teach them how to walk for runway work, as well as some of the more important aspects of posing and attitudes needed to approach a photo and video shoot. Of course there are other types of modeling that I have not mentioned, like hand, leg, body, extra work, glamor, erotic, people, lifestyle etc. modeling that falls under a very different category and doesn’t really require the above attributes.

Perhaps schools wishing to teach poise, posture, social graces, table manners, walking gracefully etc. should just advertise themselves as Charm Schools. At least then those wishing to learn the above would be well informed. If none of the above situations apply, I suggest that you save your money and invest in other aspects of your capabilities and pass GO and save your $200.00. One day you might want to pass this on to those seeking your advice.

Comments are welcome

Technical schools in Canadahttps://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/profiles/blogs/technical-schools-in-canada2010-12-21T07:37:49.000Z2010-12-21T07:37:49.000ZSonora Rosehttps://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/members/SonoraRose

Have you been dreaming of acquiring higher education abroad. Here are a few things to look out for during your time in fashion design school. Remember how people always say: “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone”? It is so true. Only psychics can really see what they will miss out and grab the opportunity before it is gone. So it is a good idea as a normal person to keep your eyes peeled along the way.

Before you graduate and start searching for a job, here are a four things to do that will give you an awesome head start even before you join the fashion industry:

To-do #1: Join Competitions
Participating in competitions let you meet and make friends with people who are already in the fashion industry. You can also learn from many budding fashion designers like yourself when you compete with them. Losing
a competition can be scary. Competing with designers stronger than you can seem like a losing battle. But as a student, you have nothing to lose when you join a competition.

Read the terms and conditions carefully. Prepare your work and show the world what you got! This will allow you to see where you stand in the professional world. More importantly, you need constant challenge to develop as a creative designer.

To-do #2: Build your Portfolio
These are the main reasons you should be going to school for:

1) Achieve your degree.

This is crucial to gain entry to jobs and higher salaries.

2) Master job-related skills.

This will be your meal ticket throughout your career. Every designer worth his salt started out doing his own work.

3) Build a decent portfolio.

This proves to your future employers what you are capable of. It acts as an important proof of credibility for every designer.

While you are in school, your assignments are not only designed to assess skills and give you practice. It builds your portfolio along the way. This is so that you can send it out with your résumé for job applications directly after graduation.

Students who did not work on their portfolio before graduation will have to spend precious time making one. This can cause you to miss out on good job opportunities. So always keep your portfolio full of your best works.

The process is not necessarily boring. You can even pool your efforts with classmates and stage your own fashion show.

To-do #3: Experiment to Find your Dress Sense
Fashion school may be hard work, but it is not completely about assignments and exams. It is also about fun. Dressing up every day helps you develop personal style. It also gives you good dressing habits. And if you
decide to leave fashion for other fields, this is one thing you will not be able to do anymore. So relish your freedom to express your style while you still can.

Fashion design school is a place where you are allowed to experiment with your dress sense. You can have pink hair, wear red contacts, or even wear fancy outfits to school. You will definitely get a few stares or the
whole street turning their heads to look at you. But hey, it will be a fond memory to have.

To-do #4: Map your Future
Eventually, you will have to decide where you want to go. Have a rough idea of what you want your future career will be like. Whether you plan to take your Masters in Fashion Design, join a couture house or start your own
label. Early planning saves time and gives you the ability to recognize opportunities. Keep an idea of your future in your mind and you will spend less time searching for answers after graduation.

Want to find out more about fashion design schools? Lara Bly, Designer and Illustrator Explains to PinkyShears.com. Part 2https://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/profiles/blogs/what-its-like-designing-your2009-11-04T19:25:15.000Z2009-11-04T19:25:15.000ZBrandonhttps://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/members/Brandon

Her experience working for others as well as starting her own line makes Lara Bly a great resource for beginning designers. Beginning to work on her own line, she remembers, called on skills she hadn’t used in a while. “It was a big change after having patternmakers and machinists working for me at Sacrosanct. It took a while to remember what I knew about sewing. I was rusty, but it came back quickly. It took me a while to transition away from Sacrosanct’s way of doing things,” she remembers. “I would call them up, and ask ‘could you get me in touch with those people who did the beading?’ or try to track down my old favorite machinist. It was like I was teaching myself all over again to do patterns.”She remembers it took her a while to trust her design instinct as well. “I didn’t know who I was anymore as a designer, because I had gotten so used to designing for other people for so long. I didn’t like the first few pieces I was doing. They weren’t bad sewing, it was just that I didn’t like them. But, in drawing and launching her own line, Lara Bly reawakened the instincts and eye for color that inspired her to pursue her career in fashion. “I remember I did one dress, and I thought ‘God, I love this dress. It’s so beautiful, and so me.’ After that, other dresses and designs, just followed naturally.”Lara says she is thriving in the artistic community at the Banana Factory, a studio space run by Arts Quest. “I have a place to show my work and an audience because we have First Fridays so you open your studio up. So, you get people coming in on a regular basis looking at your clothes, looking at other people’s work. The artists and photographers and I are like one big family, helping each other. I’m the only fashion designer there, practically one of the only fashion designers in Lehigh Valley.”She loves the search for the right fabrics and colors. “A lot of the time, I know what I want, what I’m planning when I see it.” Being able to work for herself gives her the freedom, she says, to “sit down and sketch, and see what comes,” and then find fabric to realize that vision. She prefers not to outsource design and manufacture at all, unless she’s crunched for time. “As long as I have time to do it, I do everything myself, I design it, make patterns and sew it. Having some skill as a patternmaker or a machinist, not just a designer, a great way to save money, if you want to start your own business. If you’re doing samples yourself, and something goes wrong, you don’t have to pay for mistakes, the same way. It’s part of your own learning.”Read more of her in depth interview at PinkyShears.com
Special Effects Makeup School in Californiahttps://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/profiles/blogs/special-effects-makeup-school2009-04-16T08:53:38.000Z2009-04-16T08:53:38.000ZMakeup School LAhttps://www.fashionindustrynetwork.com/members/MakeupSchoolLA
Enroll in makeup school Los Angeles and take advantage of makeup classes CA program to build your career as international makeup artist.Hollywood in California is the hub of moviemaking around the world, with over a century old history of producing thousands of artistic, breathtaking and legendary feature films on almost every genre. In a blog message, a member listed comments regarding a fun evening out "dancing". I had jumped to the conclusion that the author of the comments was a member of the fashion industry and had enjoyed a night about town. My assumption was that she was a fashionista, checking out the night life and cruising from night club to night club investigating fashion trends.. Boy was I wrong.
After leaving comments regarding her blog post and then receiving her reply, I realized that she was actually a young student. Her blog post was NOT regarding a late night checking out the fashion scene, she was actually attending a "school" dance. And it was not a college dance... (too young for that..)
I was reminded of the fact that the fashion industry network is no longer simply about educating members of the fashion industry. The network is now home to many young people that are not even out of high school. Although this fashion network was originally intended for people that already have a career in fashion, we are actually joined now by the "future" of the fashion industry. It appears that we have members of all ages.
My request to all "grown up" members of the network, when having discussions with younger members, lets try to influence them in the direction of college. Even if they do not attend a fashion school, maybe they can be reminded of the importance of school (most likely they do not listen to their parents, so maybe they will listen to us). Any college would be great... It does not necessarily have to be a fashion school.. As many of you know, becoming a "successful" fashion designer is not as easy as it may first appear. Many young people may believe it is as easy as flipping a light switch and boom... they can become a rich and famous designer over night. Most of us understand that it is WAY more complicated. Anyway, if you notice any high school students (or younger student) asking for advise on how to get into the fashion industry, please consider suggesting to them a list of fashion schools. If they are leaning toward skipping college and becoming a fashion designer directly out of the gate, maybe you can suggest to them to first check out the options of a fashion school.
I am not at all saying that young people can not skip school and become a famous fashion designer. However, I do think that their odds of success increase with education. As active members of the fashion industry and as active members of this network, we should all take responsibility to try to assist other members as best we can. In regard to the youth of this network, in my opinion some of the best advice we can give is the advice of education. If you agree, please share your thoughts with the young members. If you do not agree, I guess you can share those thoughts as well.. (but be careful, if you disagree with me, I may ban you from the network..Just kidding.. Maybe kidding..)
If you are thinking about further education, you can find fashion schools in the education section on Apparel Search.
Each day, please try to help other members... What goes around, comes around.. Be helpful and others may help you.
If you are interested, you can read a little article I previously written about fashion schools. I would NOT say it was the best thing that I have written, but it is regarding schools..
