I wanted to share the comments with you so that you are aware of the Fashion Industry Network dictatorship...
Last night I saw she posted photos that did not meet our policy. I deleted them and then left her the following message on her comment wall, "Welcome to the Fashion Industry Network. Please be careful to NOT post any nudity on this network. That is NOT permitted. Thank you for your understanding."
The reply that I received when I checked my comment wall this morning was as follows: "You said you love fashion, I cannot see how. Nudity do exist in fashion nowaday. John Galliano, Roberto Cavalli and many other designer use semi nude models in their advertising and runway. Model agencies put topless photos of their models in websites. Sorry but our fashion industry doesn't follow dictatorship from a webmaster who hide behind his screen. I am leaving this network because it's not run by industry professional. I also encourage other members do so."
OK, she obviously was not happy with my policy regarding images. Although I agree with much of her statements, the fact is that this network does have policies. One of them is that we have limits in regard to the types of images that can be posted. In my opinion, nudity is very fashionable. However, it does NOT have a place on this particular network. Yes, it is artistic. Yes, it is photographed in good taste. Yes, models are an important aspect of the industry. HOWEVER, when I am working on my computer and my eight year old comes into the room, I am not going to start the conversation with him regarding why I have a picture of a naked lady on my screen. Also, I know that several of the members of this network have similar concerns. Anyway, regardless of the reason for my decision, I guess this reader is one hundred percent correct that the Fashion Industry Network is sort of a dictatorship (only in the sense that one person can make a final decision). The fact of the matter is that I make the decisions on this site (good or bad). Obviously I take input from friends on the network, but ultimately it is my responsibility.
The good part about this dictatorship is that everyone is still very much free to make their own personal decisions. If you do not agree with the policies, you are welcome to remove your account from this site at any time. This network is NOT intended to make every single person happy. The goal is to help each other learn about the fashion industry. Unfortunately, we must follow certain rules along the way.
Anyway, the current policy is no nudity on the site. I appreciate your understanding of the fashion industry network policy.
By the way, if you were curious, this morning I removed her profile.
