Fashionable and Flyy BLACK HISTORY

We've heard it time and time again "Black History should be celebrated everyday, not just in February" and we couldn't agree more! Of course because we're a fashion blog and we live by the motto "Fashion1st" we have to provide you with some history relative to black americans contributions to the fashion world.

One of my new faves is Bethann Hardison. Bethann was one of a handful of black models in the 70s. After getting out of the business herself, she founded Bethann Hardison Management, a company that helped to guide the careers of such famous black models Tyson Beckford, Roshumba and Veronica Webb.  She founded an organization called  Black Girls Coalition, which fought to end subtle racism in the modeling world. Because of Black Girls Coalition's work, Naomi Campbell became the first black woman to grace the cover of Allure magazine. Today Bethann is the Editor at Large of the Vogue Italia's Vogue Black website, which focuses on fashion from our standpoint.

Ms. Bethann, We Salute You!!
