Fashion Model Photography

Part of being a fashion photographer, it is fun and interesting when working with fresh models. Yet it is important that the digital studio photographer behaves professionally on the shoot.

Here are some other photography tips to enhance your experience when working with a fashion model:

1. You should give your model clear instructions to your studio. Make sure they are specific as you do not want him or her getting lost.

2. Discuss the direction of the story and the shoot with the model during the go see or before she arrives if there is nudity or revealing clothes. Models don’t like surprises.

3. Make sure there is a hair and makeup artist readily available on set for the model except if the model knows that she is required to do their own for this particular shoot. Most models choose a hair/makeup artist on set.

4. You should provide music at the studio or site. Make sure to have a selection of songs.

5. During the shooting process give the model breaks and give food and drink if it is an all day shoot.

6. You should give the model her pictures in an opportune fashion. This can’t be vulgar. Editing is a process that takes time. In general the number one complaint by models is that he or she worked with a photographer and never got
their photos. Their time is just as precious as yours so you should follow
through.

7. Enjoy! Fashion model photography is an amazing craft and can be tremendously rewarding and creative.
