Day Glo
We’ve already discussed the Day Glo look in more detail (see our post on Versace’s neon fashion), but bright colors will dominate the season. Other designer’s that have embraced Day Glo dyes include Ports 1961, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors.--------------------------------
One Shoulder Dresses
The one shoulder dress is a popular warm-weather mainstay, yet the look dominated Fall Fashion Week in a variety of cuts and fabrics. Designers that have produced one shoulder offerings include Calvin Klein, Lela Rose, and Carolina Herrera.--------------------------------
Sheer Tops
In the same off-season spirit of one shoulder dresses, sheer tops have transitioned from Spring/Summer collections into Fall/Winter collections. We’re still not sure if this look will be adapted by the masses, but an Indian summer may change our tune. Designers that have embraced the trend include Chado Ralph Rucci, Preen, and Rue du Mail.--------------------------------
Monotone
The monotone look is difficult to pull off, and usually only works on those with ultra-thin frames. Designers that have incorporated monotone pieces into their collections include Prada, Synthia Steffe, and Narciso Rodriguez.--------------------------------
Thigh High Boots
Over-the-knee boots (more commonly referred to as “thigh highs”) were all the rage at Fall Fashion Week. Designers that incorporated tall boots into their collections include Vivienne Westwood, Hussein Chalayan, and Isabel Marant.--------------------------------
Layers
This is tough to call a trend, as layers are the lifeblood of fashion - but designers that layered up this season include Rag&Bone, DKNY, and Karen Walker.--------------------------------
Black and White
Black and white prints and patterns continue to build steam on the runways. These contrasting tones were utilized by Matthew Williamson, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Philip Lim.Original Post: 7 Fashion Trends for Fall 2009 - Reproduced with permission under Creative Commons license
