Essential Photography Tips for Beginners

Photography is exciting and rewarding. Whether you want to take it up as a hobby or profession, you will become a better photographer only through hard work, patience and by getting the right guidance from digital photography experts. You also need to be aware of certain photography tips that will help you click extraordinary photographs. So if you are new to the world of photography, here are a few tips that you should follow.

Handling the camera

The first thing that you need to learn is to handle the camera correctly. Incorrectly handling the camera will lead to blurry images. One way you can avoid this situation is by using a tripod. Since a tripod will not shake and will keep your camera steady, it will help you click sharp and good photographs. But there will be times when it will not be feasible to use a tripod. So hold your camera with both hands and keep it as close to your body as possible.

Use a wide aperture

Using a wider aperture will help you focus on your picture’s subject. Whatever your subject, person, animal or any object, a distracting background will ruin the photograph. But with a wider aperture, you can blur the background scenes and place the entire focus on your subject. For the best results, the aperture size should be between f/2.8 and f/5.6. So to determine which size is right for you, experiment with different aperture sizes.

When to use narrow aperture

Travel photography is different from shooting a subject. When clicking the picture of a landscape, you need to place emphasis on the entire scenery and not just a particular aspect. Along with the subject, the focus should also be on the mountains, lakes, flowers etc in the background. So unlike using a wide aperture when clicking a subject, in landscape photography you should use a narrow aperture. Keep the aperture size around f/22 or above.

Shoot at the right time

Light plays a major role in making your photograph stand out. So if you are an early riser, you can take some splendid photos early in the morning. Or else you can click some pictures during the evening. If you prefer mornings, click the picture an hour after the sun rises. And in the evening the hour before the sun sets is ideal for taking photos. During this time the sun is lower than usual. This makes the light soft and warm, making it perfect for photography. Though you can shoot at any time of the day, early morning and evenings are always better.

Whether you are an amateur or a professional photographer, these tips will help you click much better photographs. Apart from using a good camera and equipment manufactured by reputed companies like Canon, enrolling in photography courses will also help you to hone your skills.
