Easy Ways to Stay Beautiful All Summer

Summer is the time of sand, sun, and surf. It is a time for having fun and building great memories. Unfortunately, all of that summer fun can really have a negative effect on your hair, body, and skin. Of course, nobody should forego the joys of summer just to stay beautiful. Instead, follow these simple tips to enjoy your summer while keeping your beauty intact:

1.Get a safe tan -  Instead of spending hours baking in the sun to get that sexy sun-kissed look, opt for a self tanner. Today’s sunless tans are far beyond the orange dye of the past. Now, you can visit a salon for a spray-on tan or you can buy quality self-tanning lotions at your local drugstore at a very reasonable price. Not only do these self-tanning lotions give you a glow without the premature aging and cancer risks of sunbathing, they also moisturize your skin and keep it looking smooth and supple. For best results, make sure you exfoliate before applying your self-tanner.

2.Love the sunscreen –Since you are getting a healthy sunless tan, there is no reason to expose your precious skin to the harmful effects of the sun. Every time you are going to be outdoors for any period of time, slather on a quality sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or more. Choose a sunscreen that blocks both UVB and UVA rays. Wear it even on cloudy days and reapply it regularly, especially when swimming or sweating. Make sure you protect your lips as well by using a lip sunscreen.

3.Pamper your hair – If you are planning to spend a lot of time in the sun, apply an SPF spray after you wash your hair, especially if your hair is permed or colored. In addition, try not to overwash your hair, which strips the naturally protective oils.

4.Shed your skin – Exfoliation is vital in the summer, since so much damage is done to the outer layer of cells. Bath scrubs and salts will make you feel smooth and silky every day. If you cannot afford them, however, you can get great results with your body wash and an exfoliation mitt. If you do waxing, exfoliation can also help prevent ingrown hairs.

5.Oil up – If you find that your feet, ankles, elbows, or knees are becoming extremely dry, use avocado, coconut, or olive oil to keep them supple and healthy. These oils add moisture and nutrients and will prevent further drying or damage.

6.Baby your face – Avoid using creams, scrubs, peels, or other products that contain retinoids or glycolic acids. These products make your skin more sensitive to the sun and can increase damage. If you absolutely must use these products, protect your face with a high SPF sunscreen and a hat. You should also take these precautions if you are taking tetracycline or other medications that cause photosensitivity.

7.Focus on hydration – Sun and heat can make you sweat more and can dry your skin horribly. Drink at least 8 glasses everyday to replenish the moisture you are losing. Make it ice water and you will have the added benefit burning more calories.
