Dressing in Layers

Dressing in Layers

To properly plan ahead for a summer getaway, always pack the 4 basic essentials that will keep you looking stylish and feeling comfortable in both warm and cool weather (since most places this time of year get hot during the day, and cool off at night). The key to being a smart traveler who always looks coordinated and fashionable is to dress in layers, including a fitted cotton tank top, a cropped open cardigan (so that it fits easily underneath most jackets without for added insulation), a lightweight, easy to pack, wrinkle-resistant jacket (such as a jean jacket), and a colorful scarf (to tie-in the outfit).
1. Michael Stars Sand Beater Tank Top ($55): This sleek, stylish tank of fine sand-colored Supima cotton blend features narrow shoulder straps, a feminine crew neck and waisted cut. Michael Stars is known for favorite basics, that can be worn solo or as a layering piece. This basic tank top can be worn with chinos or jeans, or to the office under a blazer or cardigan.
2. Maggy London Lightweight Crop Cardigan ($32): A simple, soft cardigan is cropped and finished with elbow-length sleeves-the perfect piece to top a sleeveless or strapless style.
3. J Brand / Christopher Kane Jean Jacket ($339): This trendy neon pink stretch jean jacket with long sleeves and a cropped silhouette features silver-toned buttons down the front, buttoned flap patch pockets, and buttoned tabs at the sides.
4. Matthew Williamson Black/Coral Beaded Silk Scarf ($525): This luxe scarf in sumptuous 100% pure silk, is lightweight and features an on-trend, Deco-inspired coral and black color way with elegant orange and pink floral embroidery and delicate beaded embellishment. A sophisticated standout and must for accessorizing simple, streamlined looks, it can easily be paired with a sheath dress, button down blouse, or styled with a biker jacket.
