Spanish designer Dolores Cortes debuted her 2013 swimwear collection on Friday evening, July 20th, in the Cabana Grande at Miami's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. A popular European and Latin American swimwear designer, she is known for her meticulous attention to fit and detail as well as her fun and vivacious color palettes.  Cortes is continuing a family business which started over 50 years ago when her mother, also named Dolores Cortes, began designing handcrafted swimsuits. The younger Cortes grew up immersed in the design and production of swimwear and took over the family business in the 1980's, also choosing to expand the brand along the way. Building on what her mother had established, Cortes took the business to new heights by beginning to design swimwear with an eye towards fashion and design rather than just a practicality for swimming. The revamped company had their runway debut at the Carmen Fashion Show in 1999 and has been growing ever since.

Models strutted the catwalk Friday evening in fun, bright neons perfect for the beaches of Miami or Brazil. Cortes showed not only swimwear but also some colorful cover ups including a patterned caftan, a long, strapless jumpsuit and a short romper. Complementing the colorful fabrics and patterns, models were styled with bright green, blue, red and purple neon stripes in the front of their teased hair. In addition to bikinis and one pieces in bright patterns, there was also a solid color cerulean blue wrap bikini, a strapless, magenta, gradient color one piece and a neon green bandeau bikini.

Perhaps the strongest standout piece though was a bright neon green crocheted halter one piece; a suit likely to turn heads at any pool or ocean.
