Diablo II: Resurrected is still experiencing many of the same login issues despite having launched more than two weeks ago. In fact, the game was even taken offline for multiple hours over the weekend for emergency maintenance.

The problems still exist despite the maintenance that has been done. From October 9 through 11, the Twitter account for Blizzard's North American Customer Support has almost exclusively tweeted about issues relating to Diablo II, and there have been reports that problems with logging in due to the game's authentication servers are still ongoing.

During the launch of Diablo II: Resurrected, the game was plagued not only by login problems but also by problems with locked and vanishing characters. In the days that followed the game's launch on September 23, it would appear that these more recent problems were fixed.

Diablo II: Resurrected, a remaster of Blizzard's classic action-role-playing game, features updated visuals and some minor quality-of-life improvements, but other than that, it is the same game that players have poured countless hours into since it was released in 2000. Even though Diablo II: Resurrected plays exactly the same as players remember it, there is a possibility that new content, such as new items or runewords, will be added at a later date.

In other Diablo-related news, Joe Shely has been hired to serve as the new game director for Diablo IV. Former game director Luis Barriga, who left Blizzard in the wake of multiple lawsuits and investigations regarding widespread sexual harassment and discrimination at Activision Blizzard, has been replaced by this individual. He takes over for Barriga. At this time, there is no scheduled release date for Diablo IV.

Diablo II: Resurrected has been available for purchase for a while now, and although the most severe server issues appear to have been resolved, there are still a few issues that have not been addressed. If you encounter these issues, it is possible that you will lose game progress or access altogether. You can, however, steer clear of one of these by exercising a modicum of originality in the selection of names for your children.

The Blizzard customer support account said on Twitter that it was trying to identify and resolve issues with characters being locked from play. The account also acknowledged that it is aware of an issue with authentication servers causing false failed login attempts.

There have been reports from players that they are unable to create new characters or log in to their existing ones. In addition, players are reporting problems with creating new worlds and joining existing ones hosted by other players, as well as problems with missing characters or black screens after selecting a character. Due to a bug that is currently causing issues with this, players should also steer clear of creating a character that can only be played offline with the same name as their character that can be played online.

Diablo II: Resurrected brings Blizzard's action-RPG classic into the modern age by updating the game's visuals and making a few quality-of-life improvements.
