Cutting Costs on Fashion Business Expenses

I'm starting this blog post because I was just so IRRITATED at how freakin expensive the fashion business is. Or rather how expensive the business of fashion is. I'm not so much talking about product costs - but after you have your line. The marketing, the prototypes for the next line, the supplies for printing cartridges of all things!I just saw a posting about a girl simply asking about fabrics and people gave links to the fabric sourcing show, fabric store links - I didn't even scroll down further to see if they listed Britex (the ultimate money sucking machine I mean store- but at least they do it with a smile) also - those are all the super expensive ways to go. Aren't there any web sites or flea markets or thrift stores or SOMEWHERE you can get el cheapo stuff? And yes, I know about craigslist but it doesn't have everything....gezzzzz....Well - I guess I did write a rant...but don't let that stop you from responding back! LOL.I'm not talking about for craft and indie designers making one-sies either...I saw this link (http://tinyurl.com/cbdjx3) about how designers for the first time are cutting back (some on fashion shows period) and others on such expensive parties and shows. I mean...IS there a place you can find a used tarp for a fashion show? or used sewing machines out there? or just any way to save a buck or three? Any creative ways to participate in a trade show w/o spending gobs of cash on stuff?Hummmm- let me just think....creative ....More later...
