With the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) CEO Steven Kolb in attendance and some spectacular catwalk presentations by Emirati and Indian designers, the latest edition of Dubai’s inaugural bi-annual fashion event Fashion Forward (FFWD) came to an end.

The Emerging Talent segment winners Amalie Beljafla and Soraya Al Ali from the label Tresors Sauvages kicked off the final day with their ready-to-wear collections. Inspired by the endangered flamingos of the UAE, the London-based Emirati designers featured several embroidered patterns and bold prints of the majestic bird on their clothes.

Lebanese fashion talent Dina JSR showcased an architecture-inspired collection made using a mix of fabrics like crepe, lace, leather and satin. Titled as Architectural Precision, the ensembles were skilfully interlocked with several strips and straps to create subtle layers.

Entrepreneur-cum-fashion designer Zayan Gandour presented her first-ever catwalk-show at the event. Infused with a generous dose of metallic, the line included tulle skirts, poufy shouldered brocade dresses and T-shirts featuring slogans like ‘Bringing Satwa Back’ and ‘Satwa Rocks’.

Indian designer Ayesha Depala brought the curtain down with her glamorous feminine line. Based on a conservative palette of nudes, pastels and whites, the sophisticatedly chic yet practical range included ruffled off-shoulder tops, leather trousers, capes and long and short dresses in soft sensuous silhouettes.
