When I'm consumed in designing clothes its pretty hard to think of building an eCommerce site for my fashion business. But I truly wanted to cast a wider net, gain more global recognition, and sell more clothes. Who doesnt?!
I approached a variety of agencies and freelancers and finally picked one right here in Bali (run by a Canadian). Out of all the others, they were the only ones who were actually interested in my story, my passion, and how to help me convert website visitors into paying customers. They actually even taught me all about things like Call-to-Action, conversion rate optimisation, seo, and consumer behaviour. That was the key - what my customers feel and think when they arrive at my website.
The thing I learned about marketing my business online was that it wasnt about me, it was about my audience. The reason I had not spent any time trying to build my web presence before was because I found it too hard to think about doing it all, and having to learn so much, and not knowing what I wanted. While the entire time, it wasnt about me, it wasnt about what I wanted on my site rather what consumers wanted on my site. Thanks to the team I hired, they knocked out a fantastic eCommerce site for my fashion business.
A few years later, I had learned so much about people's buying behaviours online and about eCommerce websites that convert to huge sales, that I started offering this service to our clients. Since we help fashion designers to affordably (and ethically) manufacture their clothing lines, I wanted to give them all he advantages I was given when I started out. By helping fashion designers sell more of their clothes online, I can give back to my community.
It was a massive learning experience. It was scary at first but now that I know so much about being online, its impossible to keep me back. Onwards and upwards I say. Cheers to all of us who brave the technology barrier and wake up to a smaller world where we can sell our clothing designs to every corner of this world!
