Bridal Renaissance - VJ B AUTUMN/WINTER2010

Bridal Renaissance is a collection dedicated to contemporary Indian Bride who is liberated yet traditional. She is experimental with her wedding ensembles yet she appreciates age old Indian Crafts and Heritage clothing.

Silhouettes inspired from the clothing and draping styles of Indian Maharaja and Maharani , imparts the rich cultural significance and royal elegance to the story .

Baroque opulence in form of elaborate hand work embroidery motifs in Zardozi ( Art of embroidery using Gold threads) and extensive use of historical luxury fabric "Mashru Silk" brings in the flamboyance reminiscent of the era gone by.
Use of Vibrant colors like crimson red, orange, electric blue, purple, green glorifies this bridal collection while use of black in bridal dresses & inspiration from royal menswear pushed the envelope a bit to contribute to the rebellious nature synonymous with renaissance.http://www.vjb.co.in

The elaborate look is beautifully eased out by blending in the bohemian elements from the clothing style of Rural Indian Women. "Rural Chic" as i call it.

Use of accessories from Miao tribe of China for the Runway Show resulted in a unique and exotic far eastern tribal influence. http://www.vjb.co.in

Embellishment with natural stones from Jaipur(Rajasthan) , dabka (a shimmery wire used for embroidery) , Aari work ( a handwork embroidery technique using gold silk threads) sequins , crystals , diamante and pearls .

The collection aims to revive "Mashru Silk" , a luxury fabric which originated some 700 years ago during the Mughal Era in India and soon became a rage with the Royalty and rich Trading Merchants.

Currently hand woven by weavers of Gujarat , the fabric is unique and incomparable in its sheen and fine quality.
