Bedtime Beauty – The Lazy Way

Your body can be expensive and time consuming to keep looking beautiful, a never-ending task. Hair always needs to be washed, nails to be clipped, face to be exfoliated, and skin to be moisturized…

For some people, image is everything and any time spent on your appearance is time well spent, but for others it’s a chore.

Picture this scene: it’s 11.30 pm, you’re exhausted and you’ve got to be up early the next day. Your first thought is not likely to be about your hair or your nails. Especially if you are anything like me! I wouldn’t describe myself as someone with a ‘beauty routine’. My idea of getting ready to go out in the evening is just reapplying the make up I already had on.

That is why I have created this guide to bedtime beauty: top tips for lazy people like myself! Beauty doesn’t have to take a long time- just take a look at these speedy steps.

Face

Normally beauty tips blogs would advise you to use a vast variety of lotions and potions; multiple bottles of different colors containing all the moisturizers and face wash treatments you could ever imagine.

What I’m proposing is some good old-fashioned water and then a face wipe to remove your make-up. You’ll feel just as refreshed but maybe a little less perfumed!

However, it is important to exfoliate your face, as this will remove those pesky black heads. You only need to do this once every few weeks though! And of course certain parts of your face may need to be moisturized but this depends on your skin. Remember if you over-moisturize, you could get spotty, greasy skin. So best to stick on the lazy side of things!

Hair

I have to say that I am particularly lazy when it comes to hair. I like my hair natural and curly and so these tips only really work if you also like that look. If you wash your hair at night, just let it dry naturally. Obviously it takes less time than drying it, but it also stops your hair from becoming dry and frizzy.

If you want to wake up with extra curly hair in the morning, try plaiting it into two plaits (one plait might be too big and uncomfortable to sleep with.) It’s not for everyone but it is a way to wake up with great fuss-free hair.

Body

The main thing you need to consider with your body is moisturizing. However if your skin is fairly normal, I don’t think you need to do this every day, especially not your whole body anyway!

Your legs are one area that might need special attention, particularly if you shave them regularly as this can cause them to dry out.

However, I would recommend moisturizing your hands every night. Your hands get a lot of wear and tear during the day and moisturizing them daily can keep on top of this.

Nails

Nails need to be filed and clipped but I wouldn’t consider this to be part of a daily routine. If you get very dry hands though, you could try putting cuticle oil on every day when you moisturize your hands.

Lips

This is a simple one: putting lip balm on your lips each night can keep them soft. And it takes a matter of seconds!

The Ultimate Bedtime Beauty Routine

Despite all of this, the best way to wake up beautiful is to go to sleep early. It’s amazing how your body can repair the damage of day while you sleep.
