The world of beauty and skincare has exploded in recent years. High-end makeup was once the domain of only the richest, and the iconic, most beautiful women. These days, literally anyone can get great recommendations online by watching videos to learn how to create the highly-sought red carpet looks. New, innovative entrepreneurs have taken matters into their own hands to make good quality makeup available to every individual across the nation. Here are some of the ways that makeup lovers keep their stashes up to date and increase their available choices.  Good, worthwhile advice provides you with great information that will enhance your beauty choices.

Beauty Box Subscriptions

Beauty boxes are great for new makeup users who want to build up their collections quickly. Every month, these companies send subscribers an average of five new products to try. Receiving a constant supply of fresh product helps you constantly increase your stockpile. For instance, Ipsy costs $10 a month and is the best choice for someone who just wants to experiment. The products range from mid-level and new brands, and they tend to be in very easy-to-use and applicable color ranges. Other options include Birchbox and Glossybox that are around $20 each and contain higher-end products in more varied shades. Birchbox was started in 2010 by two young Harvard graduates.  Some of the products aren’t exactly what you might be looking for, but they are still a helpful source of practice with shades and colors to try out.  Sometimes you have to go through lots of variations to be able to find what works best for you.

Store Rewards Programs

Ulta and Sephora both have reward points programs. Sephora's points can be "spent" on deluxe samples, and Ulta's can be cashed in for discounts. Sephora offers major discounts during the holiday shopping season, and both stores periodically award double points for purchases. Shoppers would be wise to take advantage of Sephora's samples program. Three samples are gifted with every purchase, and online shoppers can choose additional free gifts. Using samples is a great way to try out new tones that accent your look perfectly.  Trying out new accents at reduced prices helps you find what you like, and understand what looks good on you.  Like the beauty boxes, free samples and gifts allow shoppers to try new products before splurging on full-sized versions.

Look for Dupes

Dupes, short for duplicates, are inexpensive cosmetics that look and perform like high-end ones. It is very common for popular designer products to be mimicked by drugstore brands. If a color or style of makeup is common, brands at different levels will be releasing them at the same time. Utilizing some of these drugstore brands can help you save money, and allow you to figure out what will create the unique look you’re trying to achieve. Blogs often list these “dupes” at the ends of their product review, sometimes with notes about differences in formulas or price points. It only takes a little bit of research and patience to get a Chanel look for a Revlon price.

Discount Retailers

Stores like TJ Maxx periodically get shipments of unsold or discontinued makeup.  This is a great store to exploit when on the prowl for high quality makeup at affordable prices. Because their stock levels can never be predicted, makeup fans should make a habit of visiting these stores a couple times a month.  Having a good variety of bases and tones allows you to complement any look throughout the year. Eclectic makeup fans can also look for Marshall's or Kohl's promo codes before shopping to ensure that they save as much money as possible. These stores can be depended on to have affordable perfume gift sets around the holiday season.

Makeup is a luxury, but that does not mean that it cannot be enjoyed on a budget. Little things like researching affordable sources and signing up for mailing lists go a long way toward reducing the cost of a makeup haul.  Finding what works for you is incredibly important, because it reflects your inner self and displays it aesthetically.  Having a range of choices allows you to change your makeup as your mood, or the weather changes.
