Activewear Trends for Summer 2018

The ever-growing fashion industry is always expanding to different branches and lifestyles, and activewear is no different. Not only is the style becoming more and more popular outside of the gym and workout scene, but there are now high-end stores dedicated exclusively to activewear, and they are more popular than ever. 2017 was already an amazing year for activewear where we’ve seen a lot of amazing trends, sets and items, and we are only taking it further this season. So, let’s see what the activewear scene is bringing:

Sets and co-ords

Amazing leggings, shorts, tops and sports bras are all coming together to create some stunning matching sets. They are the easiest way to get ready for going to the gym, or just to lounge in, because there’s no need to plan out outfits ahead of time. Sets come in all different combinations, so you can find one that caters to your activities. If you are a yogi, then leggings and a sports bra will be great as they let you see your lines and figure. If you prefer weightlifting, then shorts and a tank top can be the best option for you.

Pastels

One great, yet very simple trend this year is pastel colors. Light pastel colors are generally an amazing choice for spring, because they bring some brightness and life into every outfit, but combining them with activewear has some additional benefits. If you are training outdoors, the lighter colors will reflect the rays of the sun and help keep you from overheating.

Mesh

While mesh fabrics in clothing aren’t anything new, they are a rising trend in activewear. Look for stunning Ivy Park mesh insert sports bras and similar items that have mesh or laser cut-out parts. They are a great way to let your skin breathe while exercising, while also looking exactly on trend. The thing you want to look out for when getting these items is the quality of the fabric: a fabric that is too thin will easily rip and won’t give you the support you need. You should also look at the positioning of the mesh and cut-outs, because if it is in an area that is often rubbing with another part of the skin, it might cause irritation.

Neon color pops

Yes, we’ve just mentioned the toned-down, light and bright pastel colors that have been taking over, but there has been another trend. Stemming from last year’s monochrome trend, with a simple addition of some neon-colored details, we got a completely fresh, new look. It is perfect for people who have been avoiding the strictly monochromatic pieces out of fear that every bump and dip on their bodies will be brought into focus. A pattern also doesn’t show sweat stains as much and looks more interesting.

Comfort first

There has been a huge gap in the industry where designers have struggled to put together comfort and support with style in sports bras. But that is all changing. With new, innovative designs and fabrics, you can now enjoy your exercise with all the support you need. With companies like Enell making sports bras available even for women with larger chests, now everyone can be comfortable no matter what kind of exercise they prefer. And the best part is – style isn’t sacrificed.

With activewear being worn more and more, both by people who are gym rats and ones that just like to lounge in the clothing, we are sure to see even more trends and options available in the future. As for spring and summer this year, we are focusing on comfort, color and ease of pairing.
