Tommy Hilfiger Exclusive Sportswear

Tommy Hilfiger U.S.A has arranged an exclusive alliance with Macy's which leaves Macy's as the only U.S department store offering the company's men's and women's sportswear. It appears that other Tommy Hilfiger licensed product will not be exclusive to Macy's. Regarding Tommy, my personal opinion is that this is a sign of weakness for the brand and not strength. Regarding Macy's, my personal opinion is that they made a good decision. What would I do? If I owned a retail business (other then Macy's), I would discontinue purchasing product that had any relation to the Tommy Hilfiger brand. Why would I want to buy accessories, fragrances, etc., from a company that does not allow me to purchase their sportswear? This move is a slap in the face to other department stores like Dillard's and Belk. In my opinion, they should slap back. Actually, I have not even checked. It is possible those stores already don't carry this stale brand anyway. Regarding specialty stores, I do not think that this issue should apply. After all, shouldn't fashion boutiques only display fresh new designer brands anyway... By the way, do exclusive deals like this one help "shoppers"? Probably not.. Is Tommy Hilfiger Stupid?
