Sass and Bide’s latest show was a celebration of colour and life. Bryant Park, New York played host to this dynamic duo’s latest offering. Tie dye, sequins and fish nets would merely scratch the glittery surface. There were the usual embellishments – ruffles and ribbons, with a touch of metallic masculinity to tone the random Skittles colour palette.The “other” Hilton sister was present "I'm a big fan of the line," said Hilton. "I think they have great pieces that are very wearable, sparkly and pretty." Nicky’s front row appearance adding a celebrity sprinkle to Sass and Bide’s recent runway submission.The collection entitled “Rainbows for Kate” was entirely dedicated to a mutual friend who recently passed away from Cancer. Heidi Middleton a recent Breast Cancer survivor bravely smiled "It feels amazing, very emotional," she said backstage. "I feel so healthy, happy and lucky to be here, but tonight is a special tribute to a beautiful friend of mine so it's a very different feeling to other shows." Middleton’s end of show walk down was emotional as she choked back tears.My honest reaction was not an instant love of the look, although the collection should be celebrated for its risk and sense of fun. There was a miniscule mélange of circus drag à mon avis, but the black canvas reined in any notions of twee. Perhaps the spray on black drainpipes would make Olivia Newton John a tad nostalgic?What a lovely inspiration that a spirited life can bring a myriad of colour to an otherwise black or mundane existence and touch everything it comes into contact with. A heavenly splash of colour danced playfully along hem lines and linings illuminating a darker more serious undertone. But where there are Rainbows there are hopes and promises for the future and Sass and Bide are sure to remain permanent fashion fixtures and are quite simply a Sisterhood success story.■ BexBella.
