"Love Affair of the Sole"

If you like the following story about my shoe addiction, please VOTE FOR ME on Brickfish! I entered a contest to win a shoe shopping spree at Marshalls in NYC with a shopping consultant. Not only would I love to get free shoes, I would also learn a lot of good info. from the shopping consultant that I could then share with you. :)

My Love Affair of the Sole

My name is Anna, and I'm a shoeaholic. It's been LESS THAN ONE SECOND since the last time I thought about shoes. Oh, this is a Shoeaholics Annonymous meeting, right? In case you haven't noticed, I am completely smitten for shoes, and I have no intention of quitting my addiction. There's nothing like the feeling of discovering a pair of heels that makes me squeal with joy. I believe that the right pair of shoes can lift your spirits and boost your confidence like nothing else.Too bad not everyone understands shoe love: “Why do you feel you need so many shoes?!” my boyfriend asked me yesterday. I answered as best as I could at that moment. “I love each and every one of them, but one shoe just can't have all the qualities I'm looking for - so I have many.” Of course this answer didn’t resonate with my male companion. But every shoe lover understands the unexplainable urge we feel to constantly update our shoe wardrobe. Every shoe lover understands the unexplainable urge we feel to constantly update our shoe wardrobe. Truth is, I will never look at my collection and go, okay, now I'm good. I don't need any more shoes. It's just not going to happen! While I've always had a passion for heels and shoes, only recently did I put my creativity to work by blogging about shoe fashion. Shoe Smitten blog (www.shoesmitten.com) was born out of my desire to learn more about shoe trends and the designers behind them, and to be a resource for other shoe nuts (like you!). Take a glance at my shoe collection:

I actually need to buy some more shoe shelves...but I'm making it work. I keep my workout/athletic shoes on the ground (to the left), my flip flops rest on the top of the shelves, and my precious heels and flats cozy up in the cubby holes. This arrangement actually exists in my living room. What can I say - I need a bigger closet, like Carrie got in Sex and the City. My shoe collection is comprised of 51 shoes: a few flip flops, two pairs of gym shoes for my cardio and weight routines, and an assortment of heels and flats for work and play.

Here are a few of my favorite shoes from my collection, and why I love each one:

I must start by introducing me to the most playful and uplifting shoes in my collection: my Naughty Monkey - Colorful Talk (Multi Color) pump. I love wearing these on a dreary day so I can carry a ray of sunshine with me. I usually let them talk for themselves by playing down the rest of my outfit (which is usually black or red tee and jeans).

These brown sandals are simple and comfortable. They are my go-to shoe for when I don't want to wear tennis shoes, and I want just a bit of heel. I'm actually not sure what brand these are! *gasp*

I am in love with these Bernardo 'Biker' flats in leopard! I got them to review on the blog, and I find the soft leopard upper paired with the red leather toe that has studs to be especially intriguing. I feel edgy and girly at the same time!

I wear these Donald J Pliner Women's Gisa Sandals for a fun night out on the town. They have an eye-catching heel and contrasting textures, and they are amazingly comfortable for a night of dancing!

These are my va-va-voom shoes! I love the sexy platform, super-high heel and scaly texture of this Michael Kors platform pump.

This is my number one work shoe, made by Steve Madden (I'm not sure what model it is). The kitten heel makes them easy to walk around in, and the conservative peep toe and pretty paisley pattern gives an average career pantsuit an edge.

My latest shoe purchase! These Miss Sixty 'Macy' shoes make me feel like a vixen! They are comfortable enough to stand/dance for a few hours, but I will admit I endured some pain for these beauties.

So there you have it - my love affair of the sole. Will you share with me the story behind your love of shoes? And remember to vote for me on Brickfish! :)
