Thanks to a very healthy backlash over the past few years against unreasonable body-type standards for women in the fashion industry, plus-size ladies are finding better options in updated fashions.
Take stretch pants, for example. Today’s stretch pants aren’t necessarily the stereotypically baggy “mom jeans” you may think of automatically when you hear the term “stretch pants.”
Nope – we’re talking about sexy stretch pants here. A pair of plus-size stretch jeans with jeweled buttons can accentuate your womanly curves in a most flattering way from places like Lane Bryant and Bestow Jeans. The same goes for plus-sized super-skinny “jeggings” in a variety of fun, eye-popping colors. Sporty and sexy!
Nothing beats a nice, dark solid tunic over a great pair of pants or leggings. A classy, semi-translucent tunic can create a beautiful flowing effect (rather than just looking baggy, as you may have been led to believe), and it can balance out your form-fitting pants in the most perfect, natural way.
In a similar vein, you can sport some mean-business class and feminine sex appeal (as well as layering for looks and warmth at this time of year) with a soft pastel duster coat. Try lavender – it’ll look fantastic over a solid dark outfit.
But enough about potential work wear. What about when you get home and want to lounge in comfort (and maybe, not by yourself)?
Well, everybody loves pajamas, right? And if you want to look sexy in them, try a soft-colored solid top this year, with a nice, eye-catching print for the bottoms (animal prints are HOT for 2013!)
As you may have noticed, the contrast between soft colors with darks and innovative prints are the “in thing” right now. Remember – in 2012 and 2013, cool is hot!
