Polo T shirts look smart without looking too casual. Although, it is not suggested that you wear them for formal occasions, you can certainly don one for a semi-formal occasion. And undoubtedly, polos are the best option while going for any sports activity.
Let’s take a look at how you can get the best from your polos:
1. Knitted polos look very smart with a nice pair of jeans. It also makes a better alternative to a shirt.
2. A cardigan looks good with a polo T shirt. The cardigan should preferably be of a deep V neck so that the collar of the polo is visible over it. Make sure that the collar is longer and can stay up throughout the day. A red polo would team up well with a navy or charcoal cardigan.
3. A white vest or a white t-shirt underneath a knitted polo will never go out of fashion. However, always leave the collar of the polo open so that some neckline is visible.
4. It is better to avoid wearing polos with raised collars; it does not make a style statement.
5. You can wear a dark blazer with a lighter polo for a dapper look. For example, a bright green polo with a black blazer looks great.
6. Unlike a regular T shirt, wear a polo that has a good fit – not too tight, but not too lose either. While sleeves should hug the arm, the end should reach the waistline.
7. A slim tie with a polo shirt looks very smart. It is a perfect combination for a semi-casual occasion.
8. Buttoning up your polo right to the top may not be a very good idea, unless you can do that without being too uncomfortable. But it is always a good idea to leave the top buttons open.
9. If the polo has a longer hem at the back, don’t tuck it in.
10. If you are playing a sport, then get one with a classic fit. It will give you more room for movement.
Besides jeans, polos look good with shorts or trousers. However, avoid khakis as they might make you look overdressed. Sneakers, leather shoes or moccasins equally look good with polos. Wear them depending on the occasion.
In India, you can find a variety of polos – from patterned to plain, with or without logos, you name it – on a variety of online shopping websites.
