Lauren's Blog (84)

The Oh So Dreaded, But May Become Wonderful Length came out with their "Ten Ways to Freshen Up Your Wardrobe Come Spring", written by Nicole Phelps, to put potentially arising trends into focus. The title of this look is what first caught my attention as it was, "The New Length" and immediately, when I see the word new, I am captured. As I continued to read the description, the new length was again referred to as a challenging length for woman, which could quickly turn a majority of women away…

Manly Style

Took a picture of my neighbor who looked shockingly sharp with his red and blue pinstripe, left untucked, and his subtle shoes for a casual yet classy look.

FREE CITY goes Hollywood!

Free City opened their new Supermat store in Hollywood, Ca on Highland. Creativity is an understatement when defining their idea and creation of brick and mortar retailing. Art creates their atmosphere making the merchandise only part of the reason to walk in. Not only is this brilliant in attracting your target market during an economic crisis, but also in the sense that it provides an experience for shoppers. They…

TREND: Are you SUITable for a 3some?

Not only have woman began to dress the part of a lady, but now have simultaneously been able to wear the pants in the relationship as well. As Marc Jacobs introduced the 3 piece suit in his Fall 2010 line, the ensemble has made its comeback. Just because more woman are continuing to go back to work, does not mean they can't look fabulous while doing…

Crystal Renn Controls Traffic on 3 Paris Runways, including the "anti-plus sized Karl Lagerfeld Runway"

Crystal Renn, a size 10 model, who once had been photoshopped to ensure that her body was not present in the Chanel ad for its 2010 Soho opening, now proves she will not take a hit without hitting back when she walks down the Chanel runway during Paris Fashion Weeks 2010. Renn, who has overcome her own eating disorder, knows…

TREND: What Woman REALY ARE; Levi's begin to show us!

The line as been crossed. Either you are accepting of the fact that most, not all, but most models are too thin, that girls pick apart their bodies because they may have shape and are not a straight line, and that the view on what makes a woman a woman has been skewed because we are all striving to look like 10 year old boys. The extreme diets and in some cases eating disorders are all trying…

TREND: Jailhouse Rock X 2

The previews of Spring 2011 continue to anticipate us for the future season. The runway for me is one of my most influential inspirations. Show after show I pick and choose what I think will conquer the fashion market. Prophetical designers such as Prada, etc. guide the way into future trends that are one step ahead of even some of the other 2011 designers. For…

The Past Remains So Present

As the fabulous and wonderful celebrates their 10th anniversary, they brought the 10 biggest headlines in fashion, as well as other 10 tens from the past decade. Luisel Ramos, in 2006 unfortunately became one of these headlines after dying of a heart attack while weighing less than 100 lbs. It was because of this that questions regarding the serious health issue effecting models were raised. Reconsideration started to take place, but a complete…

Lululemon Goes Professional

The kings of innovation when it comes to textiles have created yet another brilliant design! The well-known athletic wear company adds a sports coat to their collection. Lululemon utilizes the most efficient textiles for their products and by switching gears to something not so well athletic may just spark a whole new market for these textile…

Dries Van Noten: Does the Denim Right

Denims comeback has been anything but subtle in the world of fashion and designers have been gravitating in it's direction. We all have loved the staple denim jean from decade to decade without feeling the need to let it go, but will we put the traditional boot cut, skinny jean, or bell bottom on hold? It is hard to say as I can't imagine denim jeans ever leaving the picture entirely, but I do predict a…

Michael Kors S2011

To briefly summarize my thoughts about this collection; my ideal line for Spring 2011. This line perfectly describes what I have been trying to illustrate in previous blog posts, for what I think would be a likely line to show up on the streets during Spring 2011. The first two images of this post resemble the long skirt look that I…

"It Takes Two to Make a Thing Go Right"

Milan's Fashion week spotted George Clooney and girlfriend sporting the same look. I have heard a few people saying she should have worn a dress underneath, but I beg to differ. Fashion week has never once and never will be about following the "norm" and conforming to it in regard to fashion. Not only do I feel that Fashion Week is a time for fashionistas to show us what they really are made of, but I feel this couple…

Fine Line Between Fashion and Tacky

On the runway of Salvatore Ferragamo's Spring 2011 line so daring moves were made. The bright yellow looks great for its purpose on the runway, but very easily can go very wrong in a different environment. All I have to say is there is a fine line between look fabulous and looking tacky, so if you go for it, make sure you do it right.

Roberto Cavalli makes us more than well aware of the importance of fringe for spring 2011. Throughout his ready-to-wear collection, if something was not fringed, it was not on the runway. Cavalli takes the art of fringing and makes this own. We are usedto seeing the fringed bags, fringed necklines and fringed hemlines, but fringe all over an entire dress defies the laws of fringe and…

It's a Nice Day for a White Wedding

With al the different trends being previewed for spring 2011, it is sometimes hard to pick up on them all, but this growing trend spark is hard to miss. Dolce & Gabbana is one of the designers that opted to jump on the white after labor day train and I do not think they are the last either. Bridal inspired looks for the ready-to-wear collections of Spring 2011 are making quite the…

TREND: Corduroy Blazer

Corduroy and velvet have made quite the impression in the legging department, but are we thinking it move spread its fantastic self into the world of blazers and sports coats? I am going to have to go with yes.
