Kevin Kirk, 38, has been a distinguished professional stylist in the hair industry for 20 years. His specialty lies in innovative styling, coloring and cutting techniques as well as achieving and maintaining healthy hair. Kevin presently co-owns and manages Pedestals Hair Salon in Birmingham, Alabama and works as a Master Educator with the Rusk Design Team.
Most recently, Kevin was featured in the award winning film “Good Hair”, a documentary on African American hair stylists, hair styles and the roles they have in African American culture. The documentary stars comedian Chris Rock. You can also find Kevin’s latest work in print magazines. Kevin was featured in Rusk Style Source magazine discussing new hair trends as well as Modern Salon magazine where he styled for a photo story and gave tips on the artistry of texture.
In addition to Kevin’s many years of industry experience, he has a long history of hair competition. Kevin is the only educator/stylist in Bronner Bros. history to win three hair battles and holds the title of most cash and prizes won by a single stylist in Bronner Bros. competition history.
Most recently, Kevin placed 1st Place in the 2009 Bronner Bros. Summer Hair Battle in Atlanta and named 2009 Stylist of the Year by Hair-N-Motions. Other major accomplishments include winning 1st place in the 2005 Bronner Bros. Hair Battle in Houston, 1st place in the 2005 Bronner Bros. Hair Battle Royale: Road to $50,000 in Baltimore.
Kevin has appeared in two national reality television shows—Style Network’s Ambush Make Over and BET’s Tears, Shears, & Beauty. In November 2010 Kevin hosted Hair Artistry Jam Session and Cut Party in Birmingham, AL. He has also been featured in Rusk Deep Shine commercial and has worked backstage as a stylist for the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon and just recently serviced Gale King as a hairstylist. His work has been published in top magazines all over including: Upscale, Black Hair Care Sophisticate, Matrix, Hype Hair, Rusk Style Source and Modern Salon magazines.
