About Me
I am making a career change and would like to work as a fashion writer and/or fashion consultant. I love fashion and helping women look their best. I have a B.S. Degree and am working on a Master's. In addition, I have a certificate in Fashion Merchandising & Design. Writing about fashion and trends is exciting to me. I would be great at teaching fashion seminars and working one on one. I have excellent communication, organizational, sales and writing skills with a fashion sense and lots of charisma.

The Glamour of the Fashion Industry

Posted on April 13, 2010 at 1:54pm 1 Comment

The fashion industry is an exciting, glamorous business and appears to have an allure to every fashionista from all over the world. The competition is stiff and one must work extra diligently just to get his/her foot in the door. There are internships in major US cities such as Los Angeles and NY and every fashion student clamors to receive that "Yes, you're hired to work as an intern without pay, however, the rewards of experience outnumber getting paid." Now that is fantastic for a new…

Have you ever wondered what makes a woman love fashion? Is it the glamour of runway designs? The allure of dangling accessories? Or is it the confidence she feels in her mile high stilettos?

Fashion is personal. It is the depth of a woman’s soul expressing her inner diva. You know that euphoric feeling you get when buying a new outfit that just can’t be explained? Certain clothes make you feel fabulous. Isn’t the whole idea of fashion to feel fabulous? It’s as if you’re the only one… Continue

I'll be receiving a certificate in Fashion Merchandising & Design within one month and I'd like to be a fashion writer. I live in Southern Cal and would invite some ideas on getting work. Thanks.

You may want to join the FIDM group. I just set that group up last week because one of the professors joined the site. He was very kind and told some students about this fashion network. Maybe you can learn a bit about the school from him.

Thank you for your reply. Good luck with getting your certification. Maybe they have something at FIT or Parsons in New York.

Definately keep me posted after you get things finalized. I will try to post something for you on Apparel Search and the calendar site. Also, maybe we can find some other people that are interested in doing similar seminars. Possibly we could work together to put on an event to include a few seminars at one location (you and other teachers, to create a bigger event). Anyway, just brain storming...

I see from your profile you are from LA. You mention on my page, East Coast. Do you live in LA now, but previously from the East Coast?

Barbara - welcome to the fashion industry network. Good luck with your fashion career change. Do you plan on developing your own fashion consultant and fashion seminar business or did you plan to work for another company? If you develop fashion seminars, I can possibly help you promote the events by listing them on my Apparel Search website and on the Fashion Industry Calendar. Do you already have seminars (or lessen plans) developed regarding fashion?
